Hello again Friends. Here we are taking another journey into the battle of good and evil. We are exploring the world of serial killers. We will continue to mention why we are doing this with each journey. The reason we are doing so is the fact that the media sometimes overlooks the concept. Not in every case and every form of media. We left off looking into a letter written by a killer named the New Orleans Axe Man. He terrorized the city from 1918-1919 murdering Italian-Sicilian immigrants. It’s also fact that many of these victims had ties to the grocery business. According to wikipedia there were as many as 17 killed.
The official time span on these murders is May 23 1918 to October 27 1919.
Victims 6-17 killed, 6-14 injured
We also noted that there were earlier murders that were carried out with a very similar fashion. This murderer was known for slashing his victims throats with a straight razor and bashing their skulls face first with an ax. The real evil that was motivating this individual was his dad father the devil. To see the words this person wrote to the police and all the evil contained within it check out our last journey. This individual as we stated had a demon like no other maybe even the devil himself.

In the case of the ax murders when there were long periods of time between attacks, there were identical murders taking place elsewhere. The killer was in some people’s minds also the one that was responsible for some other murders. These particular murders pattern what happened in New Orleans 1918-1919. Let’s explore a couple of these.
1. The Dayton Strangler 1900-1909 had 1 victim that matched the violence of the New Orleans killer. The only victim matching the axe man. (Our own research)
Ada Lantz
She had been badly mutilated and bruised, with a scar from a blunt weapon across her face.
2. The Cumminsville ripper 1904-1910 5 victims
Mary McDonald
She had a bruise on the back of her head, her left leg being severed up to the knee
Louise Mueller
Mueller had two deep wounds extending down to her face, and the base of her skull had been fractured.
Alma Steinigewig
Steinigewig's head had been bashed in with a club, her eyes wide open, some teeth missing, and her face was in a pool of blood
Anna Lloyd
Her mouth had been gagged, her throat cut, and her face beaten and bloodied
Mary Hackney
Her throat had been cut from ear to ear, her skull crushed, with her body and face slashed in several places, apparently with an axe
Despite the killer leaving behind the bloodied axe, as well as a bloody thumb mark on the door casing, police were unable to determine whose they were
The method of murder is very similar with the Orleans ripper. We want to stress once more that in almost all of the ax murders the victim’s own tools were used against them. The ax was a tool every household needed in those days.
3. The Mulatto ax murders
When we started looking into these incidents and did a search on the Mulatto murders we came across some interesting history. This history belonging to an individual named Clementine Barnabet. We will explore her history shortly.
The Mulatto murders took place from 1911-1912. For those who might not be familiar the word mulatto is a racial description. Webster’s 1828 dictionary defines it this way.
Mulatto
MULAT'TO, n. [L. mulus, a mule.] A person that is the offspring of a negress by a white man, or of a white woman by a negro.
These murders were committed in Texas and Louisiana. All total there were 49 victims and majority of the killings were the slaughter of entire families. The families mostly if not all of them were of mixed racial make up. There were some what we could call demonic activity involved in these. In the case of these murders it was reported a black male was seen at one of the murder scenes. This of course considering the time frame involved charged many acts brutality against the wrong individuals. So as we see the sinning is sometimes done by the society that has been affected by the crimes.
During the same time frame there were many other murders that were being committed. Before we explore the history of Clementine Barnabet let’s take a look at some of the other atrocities taking place. The murders were known as the ax murders. The perpetrator was given several different names.

As with many serial killers however then and now there is a good chance the killer may have even been interviewed by police
Examples would be Dahmer, Ridgeway and Bundy for American folks
The similarities to these murders are
- Ax being the weapon some throats slashed with straight razors
- Whole families being murdered
- Many if not all were committed near railroad tracks
- Sunday nights in small towns
- The killer washed up covered windows moved and staged the bodies and mutilate them even more
- Some victims were known to be found in positions that would tend to mock religion such as being in a praying position
- Necrophilic and pedophilic assaults described especially relating to the prepubescent female victims
- No financial motives associated because almost all the families were poor
In what are called the southern series to these murders in the states of Texas and Louisiana
These became known as the Mulatto murders because of the mixed racial marriages within the victims

Early Northwestern murders
The summer of 1911 in Ardenwald Oregon and Rainier Washington preceded the Midwest series of murders by a couple of months

The murder weapon, an axe, was found at the crime scene.
They were killed in their beds with blows to their heads.

They were murdered in their beds with blows to their heads with the blunt side of an axe.
Main Midwestern murder series
The main series of crimes happened in the American Midwest and lasted from September 1911 to June 1912.
Colorado Springs
The first two family murders of the main series happened both during the night from September 17 to 18, 1911
The victims were the Burnham family, consisting of May Alice Burnham, 35, and her two children Nellie, 7, and John, 2, as well as the Wayne family, consisting of Henry F. Wayne, 24, his wife Blanche Wayne, 22, and their eighteen-month-old daughter Lula.
The murders were only discovered on the morning of September 20. In both cases, all the victims had their skulls smashed in with the blunt side of an axe and their faces were covered with bed sheets. The murder weapon itself was taken from one of the houses and left at the crime scene.
The killer had stayed at the crime scenes, washed his hands and cleaned the murder weapon of fingerprints.
Monmouth Illinois
September 30 to October 1, 1911
The victims were William Dawson, 56, his wife Charity, 52, and their teenage daughter Georgia, 12. They lived south of the railroad tracks in a neighborhood of Monmouth referred to as the "colored" part of town.
According to reports, the killer had covered the windows, covered the victims after death as well as pulled Georgia Dawson down the bed and staged her.
John Wesley Knight was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
Ellsworth Kansas
The Showman murders happened during the night from October 15 to 16, 1911
The victims were William Showman, 31, his wife Pauline Showman, 26, and their three children Lester, 6, Fern, 4, and Fenton, 1. Will Showman worked as a chauffeur in Ellsworth.
All five had their heads crushed with the blunt side of an axe.
The body of Pauline Showman had been staged after death in a sexually explicit manner.
Paola Kansas
The Hudson murders happened on the night of June 5 to 6, 1912
The victims were Rollin Hudson, 21, and his wife Anna, 22.
Inside, he lit a coal lamp, removed its chimney and placed it beneath the bed.
Villisca Iowa
The victims were Josiah Moore, 43, his wife Sara, 39, and their four children Herman, 11, Katherine, 10, Boyd, 7, and Paul, 5.
In addition, the killer also murdered two visiting girls, Lena Stillinger, 11, and Ina Stillinger, 8, who were friends with the Moore's children and had stayed for a sleepover.
All inside had been killed by blows to the head with the blunt side of an axe.
He pulled down the body of Lena Stillinger staged her in a sexually explicit manner and possibly masturbated over her dead body.
We took a look at these murders to show the level of violence involved as well as well as the frequency. Just as we explored in our introduction it seemed demonic possession was more widespread than we might think. Perhaps we can say the same here looking at these acts of violence.
Alright we said we would look into an individual named Clementine Barnabet. The Mulatto ax murders were a series of violent murders involving families of mixed heritage mainly. The numbers range from 49-52. No real suspects at the time, however, an African America woman named Clementine Barnabet (from here forward known as Clementine)came forward with a confession. We will briefly explore this history.
She was born on 1894 and disappeared from the planet in 1923. Initially she came forward claiming involvement in 35 of the murders. This history is easy enough found on wikipedia. For the sake of biblical study we will try and get to the focus of that aspect.
- Clementine claimed involvement in the murders with both family and church members
- The church being referred to here is called the Church of the Sacrifice
- This church practiced a form of religion called Hoodoo. It claims it is an offshoot mixture of voodoo and Christianity. From what we have explored the combination was more likely a cross of African Muslim practices and voodoo.
- If you check out Clementine’s history you will discover she was playing a lot of mind games with the authorities. Saying 1 thing and another with each passing day. Because of this the local police and media began to cast public doubt about her actions. This is exactly what the enemy, the Devil wants. Have you heard the old saying “the greatest trick the Devil ever played is convincing people he does not exist”?. This is exactly what is going on here. The demonic activity we have seen in these journeys to the present is not much different. It seems as though the killers in these instances have a way of playing mind games or thinking they are smarter than authority. Amen!! Remember Isaiah 14?

The Andrus family murders were committed on 2/24/1911. There was both an arrest and a release of the Clementine and father Raymond Barnabet. Then came another confession and Clementine along with a brother accused father Raymond and he was executed for the murders.
The next family murder was the Randall family. While Raymond was being held in the jail the Randall family was murdered on November 27th 1911. Norbert and Azema Randall as well as their 4 children were murdered. Interestingly enough Azema and Clementine were deaconesses in the church of sacrifice. Clementine lived and worked with the Guidry family who were neighbors to the Randalls. Blood and brain matter were found on Clementine’s apron and undergarments. In addition there was blood found on the back entrance gate to the Randall’s house.
Clementine while rocking back and forth in a chair laughing (sounds pretty demonic) claimed they were murdered because they refused to receive or obey a message from “god”. Whatever “god” this may be.
By the end of 1912 26 murders had been attributed to the “Church of Sacrifice”. Clementine again played mind games with authorities and recanted then claimed responsibility for as many as 35 murders. Now get this. She confessed to all this while smoking cigars and singing Christian hymns such as Nearer My God to Thee and Lead Kindly Light. Again this would seem to be behavior antagonistic to God and more like demonic infestation. It was also about this time that Clementine referred to having obtained “conjure bags” from the hoodoo practicing church. Let’s explore the ways in which this “church” forsakes the word of God. We will explore this subject for a little bit. We will discover real fast that this is not a wise decision trying to combine false religious elements with Christianity. We will be getting most of our information right off of the internet so it is there for everyone to see. Our most frequent source will be wikipedia. We are not going to develop a study on voodoo. Let’s just say extreme forms of the religion are definitely violent and murderous. Many of the rituals involved require some sort of bloodshed.
The local press and media people of the day just like today tried to spin things the way they wanted them to be. Pretty much the same with the authorities involved here. Stating that there was no connections involved. On the onset with Clementine’s behavior why not doubt? However as we stated earlier this is the thing our spiritual enemy the Devil is very good at. The fact he fathers and champions murdering and lying. Then of course all the destruction there with.
It seems that the thought amongst the folks living in fear at this time was they had a murderous Satanic cult on their hands. Regardless of what everybody thinks.
Hoodoo
- Refers to their practitioners as root workers, conjure men, conjure women and conjure doctors
- One older derivative of the word “hudu” translates as spirit work.
- No matter how peaceful or violent you may view the “religion” the relics and idols used for casting spells are what all Christians should view as occultism.
- The use of “conjure” or “mojo” bags as charms, protections or talisman type uses.
- Every little piece of this so called religion adds a little bit of its on flavor.
First things first let’s explore the following passages.
Abominable Practices
Deu 18:9-14 KJV When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. Everything this passage just told us is completely disobeyed by the antics of hoodoo. It’s this simple friends. The moment you the words Lord Yeshua (or Jesus) “and” you should have heard quite enough. It does not matter what it is. Whether you want to mix your Christianity up with some other mess that’s going to claim your soul or add another savior like the Marian movement tries to do you’re doomed.

These are things used in the hoodoo religion. They have absolutely no place in Christianity whatsoever. This is a jar that is said to be able to trap spirits. Friends we never mix Christianity with any other religion. Especially if it’s being done falsely in the name of Christianity or the Holy Bible. It’s kind of like the Marian movement. Mary doesn’t save any one’s soul. The Lord Yeshua does and the mother of Yeshua understood this very well.

For those of you who have been with us a while now you may remember our role reversal of the nations studies. It explored the voodoo takeover of New Orleans and how the same fate hurricane Katrina brought to New Orleans was patterned after a judgment on Jerusalem.
Let’s explore this word conjure according to Webster’s 1828 Dictionary.
Conjure
CONJURE, v.t. [L., to swear together, to conspire.]
1. To call on or summon by a sacred name, or in a solemn manner; to implore with solemnity. It seems originally to have signified, to bind by an oath.
I conjure you! Let him know, whateer was done against him, Cato did it.
2. To bind two or more by an oath; to unite in a common design. Hence intransitively, to conspire. [Not usual.]
CONJURE, v.t. To expel, to drive or to affect, in some manner, by magic arts, as by invoking the Supreme Being, or by the use of certain words, characters or ceremonies to engage supernatural influence; as, to conjure up evil spirits, or to conjure down a tempest; to conjure the stars.
Note. It is not easy to define this word, nor any word of like import; as the practices of conjurors are little known, or various and indefinite. The use of this word indicates that an oath or solemn invocation originally formed a part of the ceremonies.

2. In a vulgar sense, to behave very strangely; to act like a witch; to play tricks.
Return of an Unclean Spirit
Luk 11:24-26 KJV When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. (25) And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. (26) Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
True Blessedness
Luk 11:27-28 KJV And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. (28) But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
We explored this passage when we were exploring our apparition of Mary studies. It’s interesting Lord Yeshua is teaching about evil spirits when He is questioned about Mary and her status. Notice what Lord Yeshua’s answer is.
Basically what we are exploring here is the possibilities of murderous demons having been conjured or summoned by these people in this demonic infested church. You see when you put the equation of good and evil back into the situation things seem to slide into place.
As we explored in our introduction demonic possession seemed to be a very common place thing in Lord Yeshua’s first trip to see us. It certainly was not described as being a very rare instance. We will probably never know exactly what Clementine Barnabet’s involvement was or was not with these brutal ax murders known as the Mulatto ax murders.
Jesus Heals a Man Unable to Speak
Mat 9:32-34 KJV As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil. (33) And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. (34) But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.
Blasphemy Against the Holy Spirit
Mat 12:22-32 KJV Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. (23) And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? (24) But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. (25) And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: (26) And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? (27) And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. (28) But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. (29) Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. (30) He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. The Faith of a Canaanite Woman
Mat 15:21-28 KJV Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. (22) And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. (23) But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. (24) But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (25) Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. (26) But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. (27) And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. (28) Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Jesus Heals a Boy with a Demon
Mat 17:14-21 KJV And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, (15) Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. (16) And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. (17) Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. (18) And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. (19) Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? (20) And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. The Final Judgment
Mat 25:31-43 KJV When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: (32) And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: (33) And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (34) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: (35) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. (37) Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? Mat 25:44-46 KJV Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? (45) Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. (46) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
As we always like to say right about now if you believe in evil you can believe in ABBA Father and Lord Yeshua. If you are sitting on a fence make your choice and be quick about it. Time is not slowly passing by at this point for our Lord and Savior’s return.
Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest
Mat 11:25-30 KJV At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. (26) Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. (27) All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. (28) Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. (30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Wait for the God of Salvation
Mic 7:1-7 KJV Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit. (2) The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. (3) That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. (4) The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity. (5) Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. (6) For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house. (7) Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
