Welcome to the World of Biblical Prophecy for History and Today

This Blog is intended to help myself and others gain the best understanding of the world around us through exploration of prophetic scripture. The Bible is the text book. Through these studies we will hopefully provide understanding to both believer and unbeliever alike. The way our God and our Savior Jesus distinguish themselves in the spiritual world is through prophetic means. In other words what the Bible teaches us through fullfillment of these prophecies shows us the truth. Let's take some prophetic journeys through history and at the same time learn about the world around us today. Please try and be patient with any typographical errors as I am my own typist and my own research staff. Thanks

The Man in the Myrtle Trees part 1

Zechariah 1:7-17
Isaiah 41
A Vision of a Horseman

Zec 1:7-17 KJV  Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,  (8)  I saw by night, and behold a manH376 riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.  (9)  Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.  (10)  And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.  (11)  And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.  (12)  Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?  (13)  And the LORD answered the angel that talked with me with good words and comfortable words.  (14)  So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.  (15)  And I am very sore displeased with the heathen that are at ease: for I was but a little displeased, and they helped forward the affliction.  (16)  Therefore thus saith the LORD; I am returned to Jerusalem with mercies: my house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth upon Jerusalem.  (17)  Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.

We have explored the highlighted word in a few different journeys now. It is a word which indicates a man.

One of the big questions we come out of chapter 1 of Zechariah with is who is the man in the myrtle trees? It may be simple for some folks to see who this individual is however we will dig through the scriptures as opposed to just asking possible newcomers to take our word for some things.

Perhaps by exploring some of the other passages associated with this search will divulge some interesting information on the subject.

The word in itself is a very close derivation of the Hebrew name for Esther. Many commentaries and we agree here for our purposes that this is exactly the nature of the word. For those who may object to our viewpoint we will supply a reference source. We will use the ISBE or International Standard Bible Encyclopedia.

Myrtle
mûr´t'l (הדס, hădhaṣ; μυρσίνη, mursı́nē (Isa_41:19; Isa_55:13; Neh_8:15; Zec_1:8, Zec_1:10); also as a name in Hadassah in Est_2:7, the Jewish form of ESTHER (which see)): The myrtle, Myrtus communis (Natural Order Myrtaceae), is a very common indigenous shrub all over Palestine On the bare hillsides it is a low bush, but under favorable conditions of moisture it attains a considerable height (compare Zec_1:8, Zec_1:10). It has dark green, scented leaves, delicate starry white flowers and dark-colored berries, which are eaten. In ancient times it was sacred to Astarte. It is mentioned as one of the choice plants of the land Isa_41:19. “Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir-tree; and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle-tree” Isa_55:13, is one of the prophetic pictures of God's promised blessings. It was one of the trees used in the Feast of Tabernacles Neh_8:15

Feast of Booths Celebrated

Neh 8:13-18 KJV  And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.  (14)  And they found written in the law which the LORD had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:  (15)  And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.  (16)  So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.  (17)  And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.  (18)  Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

As we see here in Nehemiah the myrtle tree had branches used in the Feast of Tabernacles. The branches were among those used in the construction of the booths or tabernacles. We will not develop this out in this journey but the Feast of Tabernacles plays out heavily in the spiritual fulfillment of things like the marriage supper of the Lamb and the rapture. Both of these subjects of course are end time fulfillments. To make a short comment about these feasts and their spiritual fulfillment (we have a 7 year wedding with the Lamb and we come back to hold a public assembly in the 8th year)There is also a man if you will that was going to come along and solve the mysteries to these things. His name of course is Jesus. It’s interesting also that we have a reference to a man in the myrtle trees. This is the form Jesus took upon Himself to come and be one of us and yet also not one of us quite so much.

Moving forward with the word search we come to Isaiah 41. These are some passages in Isaiah devoted to the chosen servant.

Fear Not, for I Am with You

Isa 41:1-20 KJV  Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.  (2)  Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.  (3)  He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.  (4)  Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.  (5)  The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.  (6)  They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.  (7)  So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.(8)  But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.  (9)  Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.  (10)  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.  (11)  Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.  (12)  Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.  (13)  For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.  (14)  Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.  (15)  Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.  (16)  Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.  (17)  When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.  (18)  I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.  (19)  I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:  (20)  That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
Amen!!

Let’s explore this passage for clues as to the identity of the man amongst the myrtles. In doing so we will no doubt discover some other things we have associated in other studies or new ones as well. We can start by stating this is a prophecy which we will be or maybe already looked at in our studies of the acharon. We find the word here in this prophecy in verse 4.

Isa 41:4 KJV  Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the lastH314; I am he.

H314
אַחֲרֹן    אַחֲריֹן
'achăryôn    'achărôn
akh-ar-one', akh-ar-one'
From H309; hinder; generally late or last; specifically (as facing the east) western: - after (-ward), to come, following, hind (-er, -ermost, -most), last, latter, rereward, ut(ter)most.

Total KJV occurrences: 50

Here is one great indication of the time frame we are exploring. That being of course the end of the age activity. Among other observations we can make we see an interesting statement made in verse 2 of the prophecy.

Isa 41:2 KJV  Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

This is an example of what we call dual fulfillment. There is  not much doubt to many that this is foretelling the rise of Cyrus. However when we look into other prophecies concerning the return of the Lord we see that the east as we have detailed in the acharon studies also is a direction involved with the return of the Lord. We devoted a study in part a good while back now in the Reasons for the Seasons looking into the right hand of God. In Psalm 16 we have a very definitive example of our Savior Jesus described as the right hand of the Lord. One more thing regarding Cyrus as opposed to Jesus is that Cyrus will not be part of the acharon.
You Will Not Abandon My Soul

Psa 16:1-11 KJV  Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.  (2)  O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;  (3)  But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.  (4)  Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.  (5)  The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.  (6)  The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.  (7)  I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.  (8)  I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.  (9)  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.  (10)  For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.  (11)  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Sit at My Right Hand

Psa 110:1-7 KJV  A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.  (2)  The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.  (3)  Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.  (4)  The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.  (5)  The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.  (6)  He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.  (7)  He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

Whose Son Is the Christ?

Mat 22:41-46 KJV  While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,  (42)  Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.  (43)  He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,  (44)  The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?  (45)  If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?  (46)  And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

Isaiah 41 goes on at this point to detail the rise of Cyrus who the Lord declared would have a great deal to do with the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the temple. More than once God mentions the right hand. There is only 1 person in history that claims this title. The heading for this passage was titled Fear Not for I Am With You. There are many ways some may say that the Lord can be with us but if you are looking for literal fulfillment there is only 1 way.

Isa 41:10 KJV  Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Isa 41:13 KJV  For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

The Great Commission

Mat 28:16-20 KJV  Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.  (17)  And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.  (18)  And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  (19)  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  (20)  Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus Before Caiaphas and the Council

Mat 26:57-64 KJV  And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.  (58)  But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.  (59)  Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;  (60)  But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,  (61)  And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.  (62)  And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?  (63)  But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.  (64)  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Mat 26:64 KJV  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

Joh 14:1-14 KJV  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  (2)  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  (3)  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  (4)  And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.  (5)  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?  (6)  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  (7)  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.  (8)  Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.  (9)  Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?  (10)  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.  (11)  Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.  (12)  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.  (13)  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.  (14)  If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

Joh 14:15-31 KJV  If ye love me, keep my commandments.  (16)  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;  (17)  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.  (18)  I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.  (19)  Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.  (20)  At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.  (21)  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.  (22)  Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?  (23)  Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.  (24)  He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.  (25)  These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.  (26)  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.  (27)  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  (28)  Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.  (29)  And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.  (30)  Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.  (31)  But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

Let’s consider some other subjects that the prophecy indicates to us concerning the time frame. The overwhelming subject of reasoning behind the prophecy is idolatry in this passage. We have always been a big fan of prophetic cause and effect not to be confused with any so called theories or scientific concerns. This is a spiritual war being fought. This should go without saying. In this case it is more of a teaching tool for us in the fact that this this is used as a dividing line among the nations.

Isa 41:4-7 KJV  Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.  (5)  The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.  (6)  They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.  (7)  So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

Another observation we can make based on our reading is that the enemies or nations and empires that subdued Israel will be destroyed basically for they will not be found according to the progression of the prophecy. This only happens when everything is coming to a close.

Isa 41:8-13 KJV  But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

Gen 12:1-7 KJV  Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:  (2)  And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:  (3)  And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.  (4)  So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.  (5)  And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother's son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.  (6)  And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.  (7)  And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

The Final Judgment

Mat 25:31-46 KJV  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:  (32)  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:  (33)  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  (34)  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  (35)  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  (36)  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.  (37)  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?  (38)  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?  (39)  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  (40)  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  (41)  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:  (42)For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: (43)I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.(44)  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?  (45)  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.  (46)  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Isa 41:11-12 KJV  Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.  (12)  Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

In particular in verse 11 we have a very vivid description of what will be seen on the prophetic radar. We have dealt with the kingdoms and empires of world history heavily in our Daniel Extremity studies. Our passage here is the definitive verse as to the ultimate destination of these kingdoms and empires. As the Psalms tell us the enemies of the Lord will be as his footstool.

The Reign of the Lord's Anointed

Psa 2:1-12 KJV  Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?  (2)  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,  (3)  Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.  (4)  He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.  (5)  Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.  (6)  Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.  (7)  I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.  (8)  Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.  (9)  Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.  (10)  Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.  (11)  Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.  (12)  Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Another Psalm we could mention here was found in Ezekiel 38 and 39 journeys. It concerns a conspiracy against the nation of Israel. That would be Psalm 83. The Lord deals pretty thoroughly with all the enemies of Israel in the 2 chapters from Ezekiel. We will look at a portion of the Psalm certainly not to say this is all of it.

O God, Do Not Keep Silence

Psa 83:1-10 KJV  A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.  (2)  For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.  (3)  They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.  (4)  They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.  (5)  For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:  (6)  The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;  (7)  Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;  (8)  Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.  (9)  Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:  (10)  Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

Isa 41:14 KJV  Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

Whenever we read this verse around here most of us probably think of boot camp days in the military. God being THE ULTIMATE drill instructor. In spite of all in other words the Lord will save.

Deu 7:6-7 KJV  For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.  (7)  The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:

Mat 7:12-14 KJV  Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.  (13)  Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:  (14)  Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Do Not Be Anxious

Luk 12:22-34 KJV  And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.  (23)  The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.  (24)  Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?  (25)  And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?  (26)  If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?  (27)  Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  (28)  If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?  (29)  And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.  (30)  For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.  (31)  But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.  (32)  Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.  (33)  Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.  (34)  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Isa 41:15-16 KJV  Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.  (16)  Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

Habakkuk's Prayer

Hab 3:1-16 KJV  A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.  (2)  O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.  (3)  God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise.  (4)  And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.  (5)  Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.  (6)  He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.  (7)  I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.  (8)  Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?  (9)  Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.  (10)  The mountains saw thee, and they trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.  (11)  The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of thine arrows they went, and at the shining of thy glittering spear.  (12)  Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.  (13)  Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.  (14)  Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.  (15)  Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.  (16)  When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

The Mountain of the Lord

Mic 4:1-5 KJV  But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.  (2)  And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.  (3)  And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.  (4)  But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it.  (5)  For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.

The Lord Shall Rescue Zion

Mic 4:6-13 KJV  In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted;  (7)  And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.  (8)  And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem.  (9)  Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail.  (10)  Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies.  (11)  Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.  (12)  But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.  (13)  Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

Something else we should mention here in the passages is that we have incessantly tried to drive home the importance of the restoration of Israel. For first timers 14 May 1948. We will explore this again in a few moments Lord willing. This is very much that natural fulfillment for history as we know it. Of course it will have its mirror image in the form of a kingdom.

Another subject addressed in verse 14 is the chaff that is described. If it seems like a word used often in scripture it’s due to the prophetic circumstances it can be connected to.

Job 21:17-20 KJV  How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.  (18)  They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.  (19)  God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.  (20)  His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

Psa 1:1-6 KJV  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  (2)  But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  (3)  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  (4)  The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.  (5)  Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  (6)  For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Great Is the Lord

Psa 35:1-9 KJV  A Psalm of David. Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.  (2)  Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.  (3)  Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.  (4)  Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.  (5)  Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.  (6)  Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.  (7)  For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul.  (8)  Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.  (9)  And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

Daniel Interprets the Dream

Dan 2:31-35 KJV  Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This great image, whose brightness was excellent, stood before thee; and the form thereof was terrible.  (32)  This image's head was of fine gold, his breast and his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,  (33)  His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.  (34)  Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.  (35)  Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

Judgment on Judah's Enemies

Zep 2:1-7 KJV  Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;  (2)  Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you.  (3)  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.  (4)  For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.  (5)  Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.  (6)  And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.  (7)  And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

Mat 3:1-12 KJV  In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,  (2)  And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.  (3)  For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.  (4)  And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.  (5)  Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,  (6)  And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.  (7)  But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?  (8)  Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:  (9)  And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.  (10)  And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.  (11)  I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:  (12)  Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Every supporting passage of scripture we have provided here should leave no doubt in a believer’s mind we are dealing with the return of the Lord and its blessings and consequences.

Isa 41:17-20 KJV  When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

Mat 5:2-12 KJV  And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,  (3)  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  (4)  Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.  (5)  Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.  (6)  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.  (7)  Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.  (8)  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.  (9)  Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.  (10)  Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  (11)  Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.  (12)  Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Rivers of Living Water

Joh 7:37-39 KJV  In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.  (38)  He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.  (39)  (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

The New Heaven and the New Earth

Rev 21:1-8 KJV  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.  (2)  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.  (3)  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.  (4)  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.  (5)  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.  (6)  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  (7)  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.  (8)  But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Let’s return to our search regarding the myrtle tree looking at the remainder of Isaiah 41.

The Futility of Idols

Isa 41:21-29 KJV  Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.  (22)  Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.  (23)  Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.  (24)  Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.  (25)  I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.  (26)  Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.  (27)  The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.  (28)  For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.  (29)  Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

All this leads us into the next prophecy concerning

The Lord's Chosen Servant

Isa 42:1-9 KJV  Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.  (2)  He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.  (3)  A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.  (4)  He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.  (5)  Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:  (6)  I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;  (7)  To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.  (8)  I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.  (9)  Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Greeting

2Th 1:1-2 KJV  Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:  (2)  Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thanksgiving

2Th 1:3-4 KJV  We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;  (4)  So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

The Judgment at Christ's Coming

2Th 1:5-12 KJV  Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:  (6)  Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;  (7)  And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,  (8)  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:  (9)  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;  (10)  When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.  (11)  Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:  (12)  That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The High Priestly Prayer

Joh 17:21-26 KJV  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  (22)  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  (23)  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.  (24)  Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.  (25)  O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.  (26)  And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

As always thanks for sharing a word
God Bless
