Welcome to the World of Biblical Prophecy for History and Today

This Blog is intended to help myself and others gain the best understanding of the world around us through exploration of prophetic scripture. The Bible is the text book. Through these studies we will hopefully provide understanding to both believer and unbeliever alike. The way our God and our Savior Jesus distinguish themselves in the spiritual world is through prophetic means. In other words what the Bible teaches us through fullfillment of these prophecies shows us the truth. Let's take some prophetic journeys through history and at the same time learn about the world around us today. Please try and be patient with any typographical errors as I am my own typist and my own research staff. Thanks

Isaiah Factor 14:24-27 An Oracle Concerning Assyria

Isaiah Factor 14:24-27
An Oracle Concerning Assyria

In You Do I Take Refuge

Psa 7:1-17  Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite. O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:  (2)  Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.  (3)  O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;  (4)  If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)  (5)  Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.  (6)  Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.  (7)  So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.  (8)  The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.  (9)  Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.  (10)  My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.  (11)  God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.  (12)  If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.  (13)  He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.  (14)  Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.  (15)  He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.  (16)  His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.  (17)  I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

Ecc 1:9-11 KJV  The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.  (10)  Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.  (11)  There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

Ecc 3:14-15 KJV  I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.  (15)  That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

Ecc 3:16-17 KJV  And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.  (17)  I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

Mat 5:17-20 KJV  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  (18)  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  (19)  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  (20)  For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Mat 5:17 KJV  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

The Example of Christ

Rom 15:1-7  We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.  (2)  Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.  (3)  For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.  (4)  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.  (5)  Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:  (6)  That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (7)  Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

Rom 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Hello again Friends. We are continuing with our journey through Isaiah 14. We explored the subject of the spiritual king of Babylon in our last look. The prophecy of Isaiah 14 as we read last journey was 3 fold in nature. It also very much entails the same basic thing we have said throughout. That being how Isaiah tells us of the history coming in his time frame in addition to reaching far away into Revelation. Today we will explore the prophecy pertaining to Assyria.

An Oracle Concerning Assyria

Isa 14:24-27  The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:  (25)  That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.  (26)  This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.  (27)  For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

This passage of course continuing the judgment of Assyria after ABBA Father uses them for His purposes. We have explored the subject of what happens with Assyria in earlier journeys thus far in Isaiah. Let’s get started.

Isa 14:24  The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:

The first thing we would like to mention is when ABBA Father swears upon Himself to do anything and tell us about it we know it’s going to come to pass.

Exo 17:13-16  And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.  (14)  And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.  (15)  And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:  (16)  For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

This passage describes ABBA Father’s dedication to Israel’s national security to use modern day talk. Never stopping the pursuit of the enemy until they were vanquished.

Sit at My Right Hand

Psa 110:1-7  A Psalm of David. The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.  (2)  The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.  (3)  Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.  (4)  The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.  (5)  The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day of his wrath.  (6)  He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.  (7)  He shall drink of the brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.

In this Psalm we find ABBA Father once again giving prophetic insight to Lord Yeshua’s actions when the end of the age comes. In this passage promising a Melchizedek type figure both ruling spiritual matters as well as those of a king.

Jer 44:25-28  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.  (26)  Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.  (27)  Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.  (28)  Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or theirs.

Because the people were worshiping the queen of heaven ABBA Father swears that evil shall befall Judah. Once again we also see a passage that deals with a coming remnant of people.

The Coming Day of Bitter Mourning

Amo 8:1-7  Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.  (2)  And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again pass by them any more.  (3)  And the songs of the temple shall be howlings in that day, saith the Lord GOD: there shall be many dead bodies in every place; they shall cast them forth with silence.  (4)  Hear this, O ye that swallow up the needy, even to make the poor of the land to fail,  (5)  Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?  (6)  That we may buy the poor for silver, and the needy for a pair of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheat?  (7)  The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works.

Psa 33:10-12  The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.  (11)  The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.  (12)  Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

Psa 92:5  O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Mat 11:25  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

Eph 1:3-9  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:  (4)  According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:  (5)  Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,  (6)  To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.  (7)  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;  (8)  Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;  (9)  Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

Isa 14:25  That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

It’s very interesting that ABBA Father tells us that this will be accomplished upon His mountains. It’s interesting because the area being disputed between Israel and Syria our day and age is the Golan Heights. This is an area that has never been subject to an agreement between the 2 nations. It sounds to me like ABBA Father has something special in mind when it comes to a military decision.

We explored the coming Syrian invasion back in our look at chapter 8. Then in the following chapter 9 concerning the birth of Lord Yeshua and ABBA Father .

For to Us a Child Is Born

Isa 9:1-7  Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.  (2)  The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.  (3)  Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.  (4)  For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.  (5)  For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.  (6)  For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.  (7)  Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

In chapter 10 we understand Assyria to be His instrument of judgment.

Isa 10:5-7  O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.  (6)  I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.  (7)  Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

The passage from chapter 10 if we remember also tells us about the judgment coming for arrogant Assyria.

Isa 10:12-14  Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.  (13)  For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:  (14)  And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

That was also a passage that explored the remnant of Israel. We spent a little time on that subject earlier. Let’s shift gears a moment and look at the leaders that were involved in this.

In our introduction for Isaiah we mentioned the 4 kings that were in power during his ministry.

Isa 1:1  The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

The time frame we are exploring here Isaiah 14 concerned Hezekiah and his reign. On the side of the enemy or the instrument of ABBA Father’s judgment was Sennacherib.

Sennach'erib or Sennache'rib. (sin, the moon, increases brothers). Sennacherib was the son, and successor, of Sargon. See Sargon. His name in the original is read as Tsinakki-irib, the meaning of which, as given above indicates that he was not the first-born of his father. Sennacherib mounted the throne B.C. 702. His efforts were directed to crushing the revolt of Babylonia, which he invaded with a large army. Merodach-baladan ventured on a battle, but was defeated and driven from the country.

In his third year, B.C. 700, Sennacherib turned his arms toward the west, chastised Sidon, and, having, probably, concluded a convention with his chief enemy, finally marched against Hezekiah, king of Judah. It was at this time that "Sennacherib came up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them." 2Ki_18:13. There can be no doubt that the record, which he has left of his campaign against "Hiskiah" in his third year, is the war with Hezekiah so briefly touched in 2Ki_18:13-16.

Sennacherib Attacks Judah

2Ki 18:13-16  Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fenced cities of Judah, and took them.  (14)  And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying, I have offended; return from me: that which thou puttest on me will I bear. And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.  (15)  And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.  (16)  At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

It seems as though there are always small differences amongst scholars on the dates involved. We can safely say this would have been around 700 BC. Hezekiah much like Israel is to the rest of the world became a thorn in Sennacherib’s side. That remnant the world just cannot bring itself to embrace. The remnant that makes certain of Lord Yeshua’s return. Amen!!

It’s only 1 year later Sennacherib comes into the promised land for the 2nd time.

2Ki 18:17-18  And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.  (18)  And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.

According to what we know about history Sennacherib was still at Lachish when he sent these 3 generals to Jerusalem.

This picture is of the present day area called Tel Lachish.

2Ki 18:17  And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.

We want for just a moment to briefly look at the names of these 3 generals.

We will use Smith’s Bible Dictionary for our references.

Tar'tan. Tartan, which occurs only in 2Ki_18:17 and Isa_20:1, has been, generally, regarded as a proper name; like Rabsaris and Rabshakeh, it is, more probably, an official designation, and indicates the Assyrian commander-in-chief.

Rab'saris. (chief of the eunuchs).
1. An officer of the king of Assyria, sent up with Tartan and Rabshakeh, against Jerusalem, in the time of Hezekiah. 2Ki_18:17. (B.C. 713).
2. One of the princes of Nebuchadnezzar, who was present at the capture of Jerusalem, B.C. 588. Jer_39:3, Jer_39:13 Rabsaris is, probably, rather, the name of an office, than of an individual.

Rab'shakeh. (chief cupbearer). 2Ki_19:1; Isa_36:1; Isa_37:1. One of the officers of the king of Assyria, sent against Jerusalem, in the reign of Hezekiah. See Hezekiah. (B.C. 713). The English version takes Rabshakeh as the name of a person; but it is, more probably, the name of the office which he held at the court, that of chief cupbearer.

A couple of these definitions bring us an association some odd way memories of Daniel and Joseph. What we are trying to say is that in our recent journey into Joseph and Egypt Joseph had dealings with a cup bearer. Daniel and Esther come to mind when considering eunuchs. We might be able to dig this out in some way but not on this journey.

2Ki 18:19-21  And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?  (20)  Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?  (21)  Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.

We can see why ABBA Father targets Assyria when He is finished with His judgment via them. Those used to judge become the judged. These taunts and egotistical statements are exactly why Assyria becomes the judged. These taunts are mindful of our last journey looking at the spiritual king of Babylon.

2Ki 18:22  But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

We decided to see what John Wesley had to say about this verse.

Is not, &c. - Thus boldly he speaks of the things which he understood not, judging of the great God, by their petty gods; and of God's worship by the vain fancies of the Heathens, who measured piety by the multitude of altars.

2Ki 18:27  But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

We’ll check out Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible.

2 Kings 18:27

That they may eat ... - “My master hath sent me,” the Rab-shakeh seems to say, “to these men, whom I see stationed on the wall to defend the place and bear the last extremities of a prolonged siege - these men on whom its worst evils will fall, and who have therefore the greatest interest in avoiding it by a timely surrender.” He expresses the evils by a strong coarse phrase, suited to the rude soldiery, and well calculated to rouse their feelings. The author of Chronicles has softened down the words 2Ch_32:11.

2Ch 32:11  Doth not Hezekiah persuade you to give over yourselves to die by famine and by thirst, saying, The LORD our God shall deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria?

Now back to 2ND Kings where the insults just grow worse and worse.

2Ki 18:28-31  Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:  (29)  Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:  (30)  Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.  (31)  Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:

Now of course it’s one thing if you want to insult Hezekiah. It’s totally another when we see what comes next.

2Ki 18:32-35  Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.  (33)  Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?  (34)  Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?  (35)  Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?

As right as they might have been to call out these false deities they got stupid when they decide to include ABBA Father. Ironically the reason for the judgment against Israel was worshiping false deities and Assyria are found here in this passage.

Isaiah Reassures Hezekiah

2Ki 19:1-7  And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.  (2)  And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.  (3)  And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.  (4)  It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.  (5)  So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.  (6)  And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.  (7)  Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

Moving ahead a few passages we will look at the message ABBA Father had for the Assyrians.

2Ki 19:21-25  This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.  (22)  Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.  (23)  By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.  (24)  I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.  (25)  Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.

2Ki 19:26-30  Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.  (27)  But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.  (28)  Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.  (29)  And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.  (30)  And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

2Ki 19:31-34  For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.  (32)  Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.  (33)  By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.  (34)  For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

We will not divulge the entire ordeal at this point. There is another account of all this in our future looks at Isaiah. However we have detailed this prophetic history in our earlier journeys. We just can’t recall exactly when right now. Perhaps some have already seen the account in that particular journey.

Let’s begin to close out this look at the prophetic oracle concerning the Assyrian empire.

Isa 14:26-27  This is the purpose that is purposed upon the wholeH3605earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.  (27)  For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

It takes on a certain prophetic quality in verse 26. The reason we say this because of the extreme description of where this takes place.

This is a message we could argue for the whole of the earth. This would make another dual outcome for Isaiah’s prophecies. This description sounds a little more like a future fulfillment. This you can decide for yourself. The one thing we can say for now is that there is no agreement between Syria and Israel. The big problem there being the Golan Heights. As we have explored in this journey ABBA Father makes it pretty clear that whatever you call it Bashan or the Golan Heights is that they belong to Him.

Isa 14:25  That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.

This would give a very prophetic meaning to both what happened then as well as what is coming in the future. There is more to Isaiah’s prophesies concerning the Assyrian empire. Right about now as we say it’s time to remind ourselves of the following.

Woe to Unrepentant Cities

Mat 11:20-24  Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:  (21)  Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.  (22)  But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.  (23)  And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.  (24)  But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

Mat 11:25-30  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.  (26)  Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.  (27)  All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.  (28)  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  (29)  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  (30)  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Not Peace, but a Sword

Mat 10:34-39  Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.  (35)  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.  (36)  And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.  (37)  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.  (38)  And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.  (39)  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Wait for the God of Salvation

Mic 7:1-7  Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.  (2)  The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.  (3)  That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.  (4)  The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.  (5)  Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.  (6)  For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.  (7)  Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.

Isaiah Factor 14:1-23 The Spiritual King of Babylon

Isaiah Factor 14:1-23
The Spiritual King of Babylon

In You Do I Take Refuge

Psa 7:1-7  Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.

Hello once again Friends. We are going back into our looks into Isaiah. We have arrived at chapter 14. We will discover this very prophetic passage has far reaching effects. It also is a prophecy given in 3 parts. We may make a study on each 1 of these judgments. Just like many others in Isaiah we have the historical account of Isaiah’s time. We will once again discover that the reaching quality of these prophecies to the end of the age. Remember we started the judgment against Babylon starting in chapter 13. We will refresh ourselves with this final passage in the chapter.

Isa 13:19-22  And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.  (20)  It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.  (21)  But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.  (22)  And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

The Restoration of Jacob

Isa 14:1-2  For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.  (2)  And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

Israel's Remnant Taunts Babylon

Isa 14:3-8  And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,  (4)  That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!  (5)  The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.  (6)  He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.  (7)  The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.  (8)  Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

Isa 14:9-14  Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.  (10)  All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?  (11)  Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.  (12)  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  (13)  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  (14)  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Isa 14:15-20  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.  (16)  They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;  (17)  That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?  (18)  All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.  (19)  But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.  (20)  Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

An Oracle Concerning Philistia

Isa 14:28-32  In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.  (29)  Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.  (30)  And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.  (31)  Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.  (32)  What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

The Restoration of Jacob

Isa 14:1-2  For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangersH1616shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.  (2)  And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.

In many other journeys and from many different angles we have explored the birth of Israel in 1948. This prophetic passage we feel is about that restoration in addition to being a very big future in the coming kingdom. We have been exploring the subject of the remnant. We have explored the subject Isaiah chapters 1, 10 and 11 thus far. It is a common found subject throughout scripture. Verse 1 tells us 2 things. One that Israel will be back in their land. The other that there will be strangers located there with them.

strangersH1616
גֵּיר    גֵּר
gêr    gêyr
gare, gare  From H1481; properly a guest; by implication a foreigner: - alien, sojourner, stranger.  Total KJV occurrences: 92

In this instance we would be referring to the converts that came out of Babylon with them. In a way Daniel and his friends evangelized the known world as it existed in their day. There were many different people’s from many different lands no doubt held in the kingdom as the Jews were. Esther served much the same purpose as well. Many of these people no doubt became converts we imagine. Daniel’s influence extended into the Medes and Persians empire as well.

Verse 2 tells us that the captors would be the captives. They were snared up by the awesome deeds of ABBA Father. Remember Isaiah is being shown all this by ABBA Father well over 100 years before the Babylonians began their siege and take Daniel and his friends to Babylon.

Daniel Taken to Babylon

Dan 1:1-7  In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.  (2)  And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.  (3)  And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;  (4)  Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.  (5)  And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.  (6)  Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:  (7)  Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

Now the future context to the prophecy comes into play.

Israel's Remnant Taunts Babylon

Isa 14:3-7  And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,  (4)  That thou shalt take up this proverb against the kingH4428of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!

This is the exact same situation the world is looking at right now. The existence of Israel is a very big problem for the nation of Iran right now. The remnant more or less means the existence of Israel. That seems to be a problem for many nations around the world. Especially the one we are engaged with right now. That being Iran. Then we have the historical connection between the Medes and Persians ruling from Babylon.

So one question that might come up is who is this king of Babylon? Many of us who read the scripture a lot tend to think of one individual. That individual being Nebuchadnezzar. That could be one avenue of natural fulfillment. Then there is also the probability of a spiritual king of Babylon. As a matter of fact the prophecy points this out as it progresses.

You see in the same way Satan does not want Israel to exist worse than any entity. It’s just in this day and age the Devil has incorporated a lot of beliefs.

Isa 14:7-8  The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.  (8)  Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.

As is common practice throughout history conquered nations were usually stripped of their natural resources. The fact that ABBA Father is announcing the end to the Babylon causes the earth to rest. That rest being felt right down into creation itself.

As we have explored before the prophecy starts to take us in a direction that seems much farther out than the Babylonian empire times.

Isa 14:9-11  HellH7585from beneath is movedH7264for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirrethH5782up the dead for thee, even all the chief onesH6260of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.  (10)  All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?  (11)  Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

HellH7585from beneath is movedH7264for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth upH5782 the dead for thee, even all the chief onesH6260of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.

The feeling that these word studies present to us is one of darkness for lack of better words.

HellH7585

This last one is a very interesting one indeed. Notice the reference to the “he goats“. There is the connection to the worship of Israel in making offerings.

Lev 4:22-26  When a ruler hath sinned, and done somewhat through ignorance against any of the commandments of the LORD his God concerning things which should not be done, and is guilty;  (23)  Or if his sin, wherein he hath sinned, come to his knowledge; he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a male without blemish:  (24)  And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat, and kill it in the place where they kill the burnt offering before the LORD: it is a sin offering.  (25)  And the priest shall take of the blood of the sin offering with his finger, and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and shall pour out his blood at the bottom of the altar of burnt offering.  (26)  And he shall burn all his fat upon the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings: and the priest shall make an atonement for him as concerning his sin, and it shall be forgiven him.

We see that there was a goat offered when it was being presented by a ruler or leader of some sort. Then as we read here in Isaiah those leaders found to be working with the spiritual king of Babylon will be there to greet him when his time finally comes. We have some interesting prophecy from Jeremiah as well that applies to the destruction of Babylon. Some of his insight to the fall is found in chapter 50.

Jer 50:31-38  Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee.  (32)  And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him.  (33)  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go.  (34)  Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.  (35)  A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men.  (36)  A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.  (37)  A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed.  (38)  A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols.

Judgment on Babylon

Jer 50:39-42  Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation.  (40)  As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.  (41)  Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.  (42)  They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon.

Jer 50:43-46  The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail.  (44)  Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me?  (45)  Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them.  (46)  At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

Jer 50:40  As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein.

If we remember correctly the destruction in Isaiah 13 was also described as compared Sodom and Gomorrah.

Isa 13:17-22  Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.  (18)  Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children.  (19)  And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

The reason this comparison is important is because Babylon has not been destroyed in this kind of way. Also once again we are seeing that dual quality to Isaiah’s prophecies.  We do of course see the destruction by the Medes and Persians. We also must remember the Medes  and Persians ruled from Babylon. Therefore they could not have destroyed the kingdom in the way ABBA Father is describing here like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Isa 14:10-11  All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?  (11)  Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.

The “he goats “ as they are described join in the taunting of the enemy as hell starts to swallow him.

Isa 14:12-15  How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!  (13)  For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:  (14)  I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.  (15)  Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

AMEN!! Friends. This passage in case you were still questioning the spiritual identity of the king of Babylon solves the question. Let’s stop and consider a few things about the enemy.

The number 1 goal of our enemy Satan is not so much to destroy us at first as he is wanting to be worshiped as a slap in the face to ABBA Father which He could care less about but as humans we are the battleground.

The Return of the Seventy-Two

Luk 10:17-20  And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.  (18)  And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.  (19)  Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.  (20)  Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

The Fall

Gen 3:1-5  Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  (2)  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:  (3)  But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.  (4)  And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:  (5)  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

A simple thought to all this would be by disobeying ABBA Father and obeying the serpent the worship angle was completed. As we mentioned above the enemy does not seem to want to destroy us until he has accomplished this.

In the book of Ezekiel there are a couple of passages that are very similar in nature to Isaiah 14. They are about the ancient city of Tyre. The passage tell us about the natural king of Tyre in addition to a spiritual king of Tyre.

A Lament over the King of Tyre

Eze 28:11-15  Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,  (12)  Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.  (13)  Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.  (14)  Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.  (15)  Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

Eze 28:16-19  By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.  (17)  Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.  (18)  Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.  (19)  All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Notice this passage stresses that it was the commerce that causes the violence. We will not develop this passage at this time. Maybe Lord Yeshua willing we will do a chapter by chapter in Ezekiel. Remember we do have detailed studies on chapters 38 and 39. We believe they were done between 2015-2016. Forgive us if we are off a little bit. Our reason for exploring this passage today is to provide more detail about this spiritual king of Babylon. Ezekiel also tells us that this spiritual king of Tyre was found in the garden of Eden.

Now Friends we must understand that we are once again dealing with end time events. The judgment on Satan has not taken place in the prophetic context of what Isaiah is telling us. We have to remember that Satan will not be bound and  cast into the pit until almost the very end of the events of Revelation.

The Man of Lawlessness

2Th 2:1-6  Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,  (2)  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.  (3)  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;  (4)  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.  (5)  Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?  (6)  And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

The Defeat of Satan

Rev 20:7-10  And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,  (8)  And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.  (9)  And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.  (10)  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Isa 14:16-19  They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;  (17)  That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?  (18)  All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.  (19)  But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.

God Who Judges the Earth

Psa 58:1-11  To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David. Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?  (2)  Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.  (3)  The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.  (4)  Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;  (5)  Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.  (6)  Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.  (7)  Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces.  (8)  As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.  (9)  Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.  (10)  The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.  (11)  So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.

The Steadfast Love of God Endures

Psa 52:1-9  To the chief Musician, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David is come to the house of Ahimelech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.  (2)  Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.  (3)  Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.  (4)  Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.  (5)  God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.  (6)  The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:  (7)  Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.  (8)  But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.  (9)  I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

We would like at this time to turn our focus to how this information ties into our NT world. Just as the prophecy here in Isaiah 14 prophesies deliverance for the Hebrew people in the time of Babylon’s rule. There is a NT concept to the same form of deliverance on our individual levels. Those of us whom all we can say faced the captivity of sin. We have the same form of deliverance by accepting what Lord Yeshua did for us at the cross.

The Resurrection

Mat 28:1-6  In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.  (2)  And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.  (3)  His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:  (4)  And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.  (5)  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  (6)  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

2Co 5:19-21  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  (20)  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.  (21)  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Unity in the Body of Christ

Eph 4:1-10  I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,  (2)  With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;  (3)  Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  (4)  There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;  (5)  One Lord, one faith, one baptism,  (6)  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.  (7)  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.  (8)  Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.  (9)  (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?  (10)  He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

2Ti 2:19-26  Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.  (20)  But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.  (21)  If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.  (22)  Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.  (23)  But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.  (24)  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  (25)  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;  (26)  And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Just as Israel faced captivity on more than occasion folks in our world today should take heed of our captivity to sin. Of course realizing there is no other way out than Lord Yeshua Himself.

Isa 14:20-23  Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.  (21)  Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.  (22)  For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.  (23)  I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.

Psa 21:8-11  Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.  (9)  Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.  (10)  Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.  (11)  For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.

Jesus Before Caiaphas and the Council

Mat 26:59-64  Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;  (60)  But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,  (61)  And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.  (62)  And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?  (63)  But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.  (64)  Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

The Final Judgment

Mat 25:31-36  When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:  (32)  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:  (33)  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.  (34)  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:  (35)  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:  (36)  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Mat 25:37-41  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?  (38)  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?  (39)  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?  (40)  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.  (41)  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Here we have a connection to the earlier parts of our study. The leaders that back the evil were defined as he goats. We also have another connection to Satan with the goats themselves.

For those not familiar this is known as a baphomet. An ancient symbol that is associated with most Satan worship in our day and age. We will not elaborate on this. We would however as we normally would at this time remind the world of the following.
