If you are familiar with or have ventured through many of our journeys in the book of Daniel, it becomes quite clear that the words "deliver us" apply to many occasions in the book. In part 1 we explored some examples of deliverance involving monumental and prophetic events that speak to us today about upcoming events. For a quick recap of the individuals they consisted of Enoch, Noah and his family of 8, Joseph and Elijah.
Now let's stop for just a moment or two and consider the individuals mentioned above and how their circumstances connect us in prophecy.
Hebrews 11:1-7 KJV
(1)Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
(2)For by it the elders obtained a good report.
(3)Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
(4)By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
(5)By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
(6)But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
(7)By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
After the global judgment involved with the flood we explored the lives of 2 other men that the Bible details. Now again let it be said that this is not to set any above others. We are looking at the prophetic qualities of certain individuals as they relate to the examples of deliverance found in the book of Daniel. This being said let's start with Enoch and work forward relating the time frames between he and Daniel, Daniel and Jesus, Jesus and us.
Now it's a given someone out there somewhere is going to say what does all this have to do with Daniel. Well once again those who have knowledge of this wonderful book of the Bible can see what's going on. However the novice or the skeptic of scripture may easily have such a question. The whole journey throughout Daniel we referenced his knowledge of scripture and understanding thereof and how it influenced both his attitude and certainty in belief of God. We also explored in our chapter studies how Daniel's testimonies before the king and to all of us as readers demonstrated this knowledge of scripture. We explored passages that both serve as encouragement but have a heavy spiritual message as God demonstrates. Let's look at a few things that Daniel knew to be facts both in scripture and in spirit.
Jude 1:14-19 KJV
(14)And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
(15)To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
(16)These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
(17)But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
(18)How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
(19)These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

The 2 passages above tell us as much as we need to know about Enoch and why God translated him. It should be noted that we are concentrating on just a few due to their prophetic relationships with Daniel. However many of the other examples throughout these passages will come along in due time. This is exactly what we try to do within the ministry. Now in the particular case of Enoch we can see that he obviously held a great testimony for God not only to his world but ours as well. By tradition the teachings would go something like Enoch asking his patriarchs in particular Adam what the world must have been like prior to the fall in the garden. In addition to this we know that by nature of his relationship with God he was shown the mind blowing plans of salvation. As the word teaches us he communicated with God in the pre flood world.

In the Christian thinking on the subject of "paradise lost" Adam was the only man to ever know what that phrase really meant. However Adam lived long enough to know Enoch 308 of the 365 years he walked on earth with God. As with the plans of many things with God the number 7 again has some significance to perfection. Enoch had a lot of time to satisfy his hunger for the Lord and absorbed no doubt much about the perfect world that had once existed. Between his knowledge of this history and what he no doubt talked about with the Lord Enoch discovered the Lord's path back to salvation and paradise.
In the grand scheme of things this plan for salvation was spread by Enoch in his duties as perhaps the first known actual priest of God. Now let's consider some things Daniel would have known by tradition. As mentioned before Adam would have known Enoch for 308 years. Enoch had 300 years with Methuselah to teach the way of the Lord. This in turn leads to the 600 years of Noah's life that Methuselah had to teach his generation about the Lord. Noah in turn has approximately 56 or slightly more years to teach Abraham. In doing so we have a regeneration of the history and tradition with the flood now mixed into the picture.
Now it's probably a good bet that some of you are really starting to wonder what this has to do with our studies of Daniel. Well here we go and first let me remind ourselves friends that back in the days we are dealing in there was no television, radio, and especially video games or internet to turn our attentions away from the Godly traditions the world once knew.
In Daniel we see many various types of deliverance.
Genesis 5:24 KJV
(24)And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
Enoch was translated as we have mentioned earlier out of this world alive. In the process he was taken out of a world of unbelief and violence. Daniel and his friends were also delivered on multiple occasions and were very much in tune with the traditions passed down through the centuries or even millennia. For example the Hebrew people were encountering fulillments of prophecy.
Daniel 9:1-3 KJV
(1)In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans;
(2)In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.
(3)And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
As we mentioned in our studies of chapter 9 Daniel knew the times and so it goes without saying Daniel knew the following and took it to heart.
Jeremiah 33:1-3 KJV
(1)Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,
(2)Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
(3)Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
It was knowing this and having faith just as Hebrews both defines and describes that delivered Daniel from the death threats of chapter 2.

(1)And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
(2)Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.
(27)Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;
(28)But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;
(29)As for thee, O king, thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed, what should come to pass hereafter: and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass.
(30)But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart.
This of course not only delivered Daniel and his comrades but all the heathen as well. In chapter 3 we have much the same scenario and testimony in addition to knowledge of the scripture which in turn Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo from a fiery tribulation.

(15)Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
(16)Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
(17)If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
(18)But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

(20)And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?

(22)My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
(23)Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
Each of these examples of deliverance in Daniel in addition to Enoch tell us something about future events. We explored briefly the picture that Enoch's translation paints of the rapture for us as believers. Let's consider some things that connect all of us as believers now and then. We can start with the testimony of Enoch Jude provides.

Daniel received a piece of the same message as we explored in our chapter 7 study.
Daniel 2:34-35 KJV

(35)Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Daniel 7:9-12 KJV
(9)I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
(10)A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened.
(11)I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
(12)As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
The messages that Enoch delivered teaching prophetic righteousness filtered down through the centuries. Of course teaching is only as strong as those who would continue in it. This most likely is one reason we hear so much about certain individuals more than others throughout scripture. Of course the pinnacle in all this teaching is Jesus. Does Jesus feel as though the prophetic righteousness was important? Well He gives us several reasons to believe so. Mostly by confirming what we know has been taught and preached by Enoch and the other prophets such as Daniel.
