(12) Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
Well here we are. This verse is no doubt for myself the most enigmatic of all contained within this prophecy we have covered to this point. After having prayed and dealt with this verse much in study it's apparent many things are both to be considered and approached. In our look at verse 11 we were able to establish a little bit of hypothesis by associating events which take place in the Hebrew calendar with regard to the number of days spoken of in the prophecy. Here in verse 12 we may encounter this type of connection but the concrete teachings from this verse revolves around the subjects of patience and endurance.

(11) And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Let's explore some word study regarding verse 12.

A primitive root (apparently akin to H2707 through the idea of piercing); properly to adhere to; hence to await: - long, tarry, wait.
In word study we may very well discover that the obsession people such as myself have with this verse in a numerical sense overshadows what is actually being said. Such as we see above with the word chosen to describe everything we hold to in stone and anticipate as believers. Let's expand this out one level and look at what the root word adds to the equation.

A primitive root; to carve; by implication to delineate; also to intrench: - carved work, portrayed, set a print.
This sheds a little light upon the blueprints of the believer's faith in the word. We have promises from God throughout the scripture which we know to be prophecy. So now when we put these words together and understand that the waiting described in verse 12 should be approached with patience and understanding. The concept is a pattern that runs deep in the scriptures.
As a matter of fact we also find this pattern set forth by Jesus.

Notice the highlighted word here being patience. This is the first time throughout the KJV Bible this word is used. This is also a parable that no doubt should wring truth for all of us. It is also a picture of the tolerance and salvation God chose for mankind through the lifetime of His Son.

By expanding the word study we see that the patience we are exploring is directly related to our mindset as believers. It is also a perspective on how God has dealt with us since the days of the flood and prior. There are 2 different words used in the NT Greek for the word patience. The first and least used is found here in the gospel of Matthew. There are 34 uses of the word patience in the KJV with 5 of these using the above form of the word in Greek. The other verses all include the following word study. Another interesting aspect about this is that we have the first appearances of each word in parables spoken by Jesus. The second found in the parable of the sower.

OK Brother Al what does all this have to do with things?Well the issues of patience and perseverence are at play now more so than ever within the prophecies of Daniel.

(21) And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
(22) And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
In the end result enduring the tribulations and sorrows of the world is what the entire book of Daniel is about. In these last few verses of the book we find this endurance being applied to the gaining of a new heaven and a new earth. The concept of waiting patiently to obtain our paradise as always set forth and first demonstrated by God in His patience with us.

(4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Well what we have just read is the prediction of not only the coming of Jesus but His exact mission. It seems odd when reading these prophetic renderings of Jesus that a Messiah of liberation and warfare was expected of Him in many circles. This last verse puts forth much of what the atmosphere of this study represents. In the sense that the number of days and pinpointing a precise calendar time frame of Daniel 12:11-12 overshadow the activity and expected behavior of the believer. Another aspect to what we could be seeing is the recent rash of false doomsday predictions by so-called religious leaders or preachers. The passage also demonstrates the types of attacks we can expect our faith to fall under due to these types of errors made by men who have been loyal servants to the Lord over many years.

These examples continue throughout the NT. The basic message being put forth is patiently await the return of the Lord in patience and suffering.
