Welcome to the World of Biblical Prophecy for History and Today

This Blog is intended to help myself and others gain the best understanding of the world around us through exploration of prophetic scripture. The Bible is the text book. Through these studies we will hopefully provide understanding to both believer and unbeliever alike. The way our God and our Savior Jesus distinguish themselves in the spiritual world is through prophetic means. In other words what the Bible teaches us through fullfillment of these prophecies shows us the truth. Let's take some prophetic journeys through history and at the same time learn about the world around us today. Please try and be patient with any typographical errors as I am my own typist and my own research staff. Thanks

The Role Reversals of the Nations Part 5

The Role Reversals of the Nations Part 5

Deuteronomy 30:1-7

1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee, 2 And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; 3 That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee. 4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: 5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers. 6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. 7 And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

We explored briefly the some of the chastisements concerning the nation of Israel, Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple which occurred twice. Once at the hands of the Babylonians and another time with the Romans. However the Roman conquests fulfilled the parable of the fig tree Jesus spoke of and also the tree He literally cursed.

Matthew 21:17-19

17 And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. 18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. 19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

Matthew 24:32-35

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

There are at least 109 documented accounts of nations removing the Jewish population from their societies for different reasons or another. These happened between the years of 250AD and 1948AD. Remember that although God prophesied these downfalls for Israel He also promised punishment for the nations that mistreated His people. We see this spoken to Abraham in a solemn promise from God in Genesis.

Genesis 15:13-14

13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; 14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

We also see it demonstrated in Deuteronomy 30 above. Let's explore some of this history that befell the Jewish people during and after the fall of Rome. These totals will be representative of both national and local edicts. For example the nation of France and provinces such as Lyons and Sens.

250 -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Carthage
415 -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Alexandria
Between 554 and 1789 France expelled the Jewish population at least 12 times
Between 612 and 1498 Spain 3 times
Between 855 and 1597 Italy 11 times
Between 1012 and WWll (including) Germany 22 times
Between 1290 and 1656 England 1 time

A little history associated with this because it was 1656 on the Hebrew calendar the biblical flood took place. It just happened to be the same year Jews started slowly returning to England on the Gregorian calendar. Just a little food for thought as both situations somewhat detail a refugee status.

The history of the Jews in England goes back to the Norman Conquest. The first written records of Jewish settlement in England date from the time of William the Conqueror in 1066, although Jews may have lived there since Roman times.[1] The Jewish presence continued until King Edward I's Edict of Expulsion in 1290. After the expulsion, there was no Jewish community, apart from isolated individuals who practiced Judaism secretly, until the reign of Oliver Cromwell. While Cromwell never officially readmitted Jews to Britain, a small colony of Sephardic Jews living in London was identified in 1656 and allowed to remain due to Cromwell's need of their financial assistance.
Between 1348 and 1424 Switzerland 3 times
Between 1349 and 1582 Hungary 3 times
Between 1380 and 1744 Slovakia 2 times
Between 1421 and 1670 Austria 4 times
Between 1442 and 1582 Netherlands 3 times
Between 1453 and 1775 Poland 4 times including 2 from Warsaw
Between 1495 and 1744 Lithuania 4 times
Between 1542 and 1745 Czech Republic 4 times
Between 1619 and 1891 Ukraine and other Russian territories 6 times

Of course in 1948 the Jewish people became widely unwanted in the Arab States which we will look at in future studies with more detail. Some of these instances included 1 expulsion per nation which we did not list. However this covers approximately 80 out of 109 plus expulsions mostly involving European nations.

1948-1958

The Jewish exodus from Arab lands. The combined population of Jewish communities in the Greater Middle East (excluding Israel) was reduced from about 900,000 in 1948 to less than 8,000 today. Some of these communities were more than 2,500 years old. Israel absorbed approximately 600,000 of these refugees, many of whom were temporarily settled in tent cities called Ma'abarot. They were eventually absorbed into Israeli society, and the last Maabarah was dismantled in 1958. The Jewish refugees had no assistance from the UNRWA. See also Farhud.

1960s-1989

State-sponsored persecution in the Soviet Union prompted more than 1 million Soviet Jews to emigrate to Israel, 250,000 to the United States with "refugee" status, and 100,000 to Germany. Due to the 1968 Polish political crisis thousands of Jews were forced by the communist authorities to leave Poland. We know from Deuteronomy 30 that God would decide upon a time to restore the nation of Israel and that the enemy nations would begin to fall into judgment. God prophesied in many places of scripture about a distant restoration of the nation in the latter or last days. Remember our word study from part 1 indicating how the Hebrew language was very specific in its meanings. Well if not here it is again:

30 When thou art in tribulation <06862>, and all these things <01697> are come <04672> upon thee, even in the latter <0319> days <03117>, if thou turn <07725> to the LORD <03068> thy God <0430>, and shalt be obedient <08085> unto his voice <06963>;

Please take notice of the word latter. This has some special significance to the prophecy. Below is the definition:
00319:
319 'achariyth akh-ar-eeth' from 310; the last or end, hence, the future; also posterity:--(last, latter) end (time), hinder (utter) -most, length, posterity, remnant, residue, reward. see HEBREW for 0310

Let's dive a little deeper and look at the root word:
00310:
310 'achar akh-ar' from 309; properly, the hind part; generally used as an adverb or conjunction, after (in various senses):--after (that, -ward), again, at, away from, back (from, -side), behind, beside, by, follow (after, -ing), forasmuch, from, hereafter, hinder end, + out (over) live, + persecute, posterity, pursuing, remnant, seeing, since, thence(-forth), when, with. see HEBREW for 0309

One more look at the wording:
00309:
309 'achar aw-khar' a primitive root; to loiter (i.e. be behind); by implication to procrastinate:--continue, defer, delay, hinder, be late (slack), stay (there), tarry (longer).

However we have one last addition to these words defining things to come way into the future with the prophets. This would be the word acharon in the English

00314:
314 'acharown akh-ar-one' or (shortened) ;acharon akh-ar-one'; from 309; hinder; generally, late or last; specifically (as facing the east) western:--after (-ward), to come, following, hind(-er, -ermost, -most), last, latter, rereward, ut(ter)most. see HEBREW for 0309

Notice the implication of this word as it can be applied to a generation of time involving the west facing against the east. At this time we are primarily concerned with the last days so we will explore this concept of the east in another study. We'll just leave it at this for thought as many times the direction of the east is involved with judgments or warfare for the nation of Israel.
To get a slightly better angle on what is being said with this particular wording let's check out Isaiah for a couple of verses.

Isaiah 46:9-10

9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

10 Declaring <05046> the end <0319> from the beginning

Isaiah 2:1-5
1The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 And it shall come to pass in the last <0319> days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Isaiah 66:5-14

5 Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. 6 A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies. 7 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. 8 Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. 9 Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God. 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her: 11 That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. 12 For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. 13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

Now we have a prophecy given to Isaiah from God concerning the rebirth of Israel and more specifically the city of Jerusalem. This much of the prophecy has been fulfilled. Notice as the passage develops what happens. We have a judgment pronounced upon the nations in addition to the establishment of peace and no more war. This is only going to take place when the return of Jesus and the establishment of the kingdom takes place.

Micah chapter 4
1But in the last <0319> days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. 5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever. 6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; 7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. 8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem. 9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail. 10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. 13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

We can even find the use of our word studies in the Psalms. Some may not recognize the prophetic quality of the Psalms but it is a book full of prophecy. We will explore a few examples pertaining to our modern day restorations of Israel and Jerusalem.

Psalm 48

A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah.
1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. 2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. 3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge. 4 For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together. 5 They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away. 6 Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. 7 Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. 8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah. 9 We have thought of thy loving kindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple. 10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness. 11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. 12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. 13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. 14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

Psalm 48:13

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following <0314>.

Psalm 78:1-8Maschil of Asaph.

1 Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. 2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: 3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

Let's look at verses 4 and 6

4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come <0314> the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.

6 That the generation to come <0314>
might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

The Bible is written contrary to some beliefs in a very correct grammar. There are words for genders, tenses, specific meanings. This passage that we are looking at in Psalm 78 talks of the generation to come using the word acharon. This would imply that it is meant for a specific generation in a singular sense that would be in the final days facing the east.

Psalm 102:12-21

12 But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations. 13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. 14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. 15 So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. 16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. 17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. 18 This shall be written for the generation to come <0314>: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD. 19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth; 20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; 21 To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;

This Psalm again describes the rise of Israel and Jerusalem. Let's back up for just a moment and establish some clarity. First and foremost we hear the word Zion mentioned heavily through these passages we have explored. For those who may not be familiar or would prefer to debate what this word entails if a non-believer here is the word study for Zion.

06726: 6726 Tsiyown tsee-yone' the same (regularly) as 6725; Tsijon (as a permanent capital), a mountain of Jerusalem:--Zion. see HEBREW for 06725

06725:
6725 tsiyuwn tsee-yoon' from the same as 6723 in the sense of conspicuousness (compare 5329); a monumental or guiding pillar:--sign, title, waymark. see HEBREW for 06723 see HEBREW for 05329

06723:
6723 tsiyah tsee-yaw' from an unused root meaning to parch; aridity; concretely, a desert:--barren, drought, dry (land, place), solitary place, wilderness.

05329:
5329 natsach naw-tsakh' a primitive root; properly, to glitter from afar, i.e. to be eminent (as a superintendent, especially of the Temple services and its music); also (as denominative from 5331), to be permanent:--excel, chief musician (singer), oversee(-r), set forward. see HEBREW for 05331

If we read through these meanings carefully here is the picture these meanings paint. First of all there is a mount Zion located in Jerusalem. Second it will be revived out of the parched desert to stand as a shining beacon for the world to get ready for the arrival of Jesus. One more important thing to consider is in verse 13.

her, yea, the set time <04150>,

A specific ,set time known only to the Lord until the fulfillment which began May 14, 1948 and then the re-establishment of Jerusalem in 1967 after Israel won the 6-day war.

04150:
4150 mow`ed mo-ade' or moled mo-ade'; or (feminine) moweadah (2 Chronicles 8:13) mo-aw-daw'; from 3259; properly, an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; specifically, a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); technically the congregation; by extension, the place of meeting; also a signal (as appointed beforehand):--appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, solemn(-ity), synogogue, (set) time (appointed). see HEBREW for 03259

This word implies a specific time in the form of a season in symbolization that the Lord chose from before the beginning of creation for His kingdom to begin to take shape in an earthly fashion. This is why when believers talk of the Holy Spirit they can understand a physical and spiritual fulfillment of prophecy. Although it should be mentioned that this is not the only way the Holy Spirit works.

Jeremiah 23:1-8

1 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. 2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD. 3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD. 5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.Jeremiah 23:17-20 17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. 18 For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it? 19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter <0319> days ye shall consider it perfectly.

Again we have a prophecy that speaks of a gathering together from around the world of the Jewish people back to their homeland to dwell. We know that this is not speaking solely to the Babylonian captivity because the Lord announces He brings them from all the countries they had been scattered. Then in the later passages in verse 20 we see the time frame in which this gathering relates to.

These are some common themes relating these prophecies together toward one moment in history. First they all address events that will take place in the last days or generations which ever you prefer. The prophecies address a fulfillment of the restoration of the nation of Israel. In addition to the nation we have the rebirth of the city of Jerusalem or Mount Zion. That the nation and Jerusalem would be flourishing in the desert. Another subject that rings forth is that the gathering of the Lord's nation from throughout the earth. We explored some word study concerning what the restoration of Zion or Jerusalem implies. That this would be a symbol of recognition to the world of the existence and return of the Lord to follow at some point. One more subject to consider about these prophesies is the fact that we have reference to birthpains or travail. It's almost impossible to limit the number of subjects according to these passages and many more. The biggest aspect of all is that the reappearance of the Lord to declare His kingdom and the worship in Jerusalem. The astonishment at the sight of the reappearances of Israel and Jerusalem probably associated in some detail with the following secular history form Wikipedia. Also it is worth noting that these prophesies were written in intervals of decades to centuries apart. A continuous flow of scripture headed toward the rebirth of a nation and its capitol where God chose to state His name.

During its long history, Jerusalem has been destroyed twice, besieged 23 times, attacked 52 times, and captured and recaptured 44 times.

Today, the status of Jerusalem remains one of the core issues in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Israel's annexation of East Jerusalem has been repeatedly criticized by the United Nations and related bodies. Placing most foreign embassies in Tel Aviv and none in Jerusalem, the international community does not recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Palestinians want East Jerusalem to be the capital of a future Palestinian state.

Let's take our journey into the words of Jesus and see how He marries the testaments together concerning the preceding passages.

Matthew 14:32-35

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
We have spent some time exploring the symbolization behind this parable. Even more important though is Jesus addresses the fact that summer is near when the when we see the restoration of Israel. This has relationships to 2 of our earlier passages. These are Jeremiah 24 and the Songs of Solomon 2. These were detailed somewhat in part 3. We can also relate a verse from Psalm 102 verse 13.

Song of Solomon 2:10-13
10 My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. 11 For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; 12 The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; 13 The fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

Psalm 102:13

13 Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.
We can relate this with detail to our word study from this passage

her, yea, the set time <04150>,

Jeremiah 24:2

2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe

Let's look these over briefly. Song of Solomon 2 symbolizes the passing of winter, the early sweet figs and also change of season. All these events lead up to a marriage union between the nation of Israel and the Lord. Jeremiah 24 speaks of the good early ripened figs and God proclaims this population sent to Babylon would begin the generations of Israel once again. This would lead to the generation we have been describing over history. Remnant upon remnant until we have the restoration of the nation. Psalm 102 implies a set time which can also be considered as a season in which this miraculous and foretold rebirth would take place. Jesus speaks directly to these subjects in the parable and proclaims that this specific generation of people and time would not end until these restoration takes place.

Matthew 24:3-10

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

Isaiah 2:4
4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Isaiah 66: 5-9

Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

Micah 4:1-4

1 But in the last <0319> days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. Psalm 48:1-4 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Psalm 48:13

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following <0314>.Psalm 78:4-6

4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come <0314> the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. 6 That the generation to come <0314> might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:

Psalm 102:16-19

16 When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. 17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer. 18 This shall be written for the generation to come <0314>: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.

Jeremiah 23:7-8

7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that they shall no more say, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt; 8 But, The LORD liveth, which brought up and which led the seed of the house of Israel out of the north country, and from all countries whither I had driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land. Jeremiah 23:19-20

These are some things from every passage of scripture we explored above concerning the setting of the world stage for the return of the Lord. Let's consider Deuteronomy 30 as it relates to these passages.

Deuteronomy 30 verses 1 and 7 1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,

7 And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

With respect to what Jesus says in the signs of the ends of the age there are many connections. Let's consider Matthew 24:6-8

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation <1484>, shall rise against nation <1484>,, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows <5604>.
Verse 7
01484:
1484 ethnos eth'-nos probably from 1486; a race (as of the same habit), i.e. a tribe; specially, a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually, by implication, pagan):--Gentile, heathen, nation, people. see GREEK for 1486

Verse 8
05604:
5604 odin o-deen' akin to 3601; a pang or throe, especially of childbirth:--pain, sorrow, travail.

Matthew 4:4

It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

This is where we will close out this part of the role reversals of the nations. Just a little prophetic food for thought Abraham was born in the Hebrew calendar year of 1948. In other words 1,948 years from the time of creation. Some dispute this but if you go by the biblical numbers it comes out to be 1948. Now here is the interesting part concerning our modern day realization of Israel. The nation of Israel officially came to life again May 14, 1948 on the Gregorian calendar which most western nations follow today. Some may scoff at this kind of detail in the word of God but after exploring just a few chapters relating these matters it seems hard to call it coincidence.
