Welcome to the World of Biblical Prophecy for History and Today

This Blog is intended to help myself and others gain the best understanding of the world around us through exploration of prophetic scripture. The Bible is the text book. Through these studies we will hopefully provide understanding to both believer and unbeliever alike. The way our God and our Savior Jesus distinguish themselves in the spiritual world is through prophetic means. In other words what the Bible teaches us through fullfillment of these prophecies shows us the truth. Let's take some prophetic journeys through history and at the same time learn about the world around us today. Please try and be patient with any typographical errors as I am my own typist and my own research staff. Thanks

Daniel Extremity Yesterday and Today: Part 1 of Deliver Us

Matthew 6:6-13 KJV
(6)But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
(7)But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
(8)Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
(9)After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
(10)Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
(11)Give us this day our daily bread.
(12)And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
(13)And lead us not into temptation, but deliverG4506 us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

(13)And lead us not into temptation, but deliverG4506 us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

G4506ῥύομαι
rhuomai
rhoo'-om-aheeMiddle voice of an obsolete verb, akin to G4482 (through the idea of a current; compare G4511); to rush or draw (for oneself), that is, rescue: - deliver (-er).

G4482ῥέω
rheō
hreh'-oA primary verb; for some tenses of which a prolonged form (ῥεύω rheuō) is used; to flow ("run", as water): - flow.

G4511ῥύσις
rhusis
hroo'-sisFrom G4506 in the sense of its congener G4482; a flux (of blood): - issue.

John 19:26-37 KJV
(26)When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
(27)Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
(28)After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
(29)Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
(30)When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
(31)The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
(32)Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
(33)But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
(34)But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
(35)And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
(36)For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
(37)And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

This introduction to our next explorations connecting our world and Daniel's says a lot in the spirit. In our last journey we explored how temptation connected Daniel to the Lord's prayer in the form of piercing or Jesus being pierced upon the cross was both spiritually and literally connected to overcoming temptation. We also ventured ahead into how the subjects of imprisonment and testing will be part of the problems those converting to Jesus will face during the tribulation period.

Now in this next look at the Lord's prayer and the book of Daniel we will explore deliverance. As we know from our entire journey through Daniel this was very much so demonstrated in at least 3 separate occasions. Some relating to Daniel himself and others to his 3 fellow noblemen. Again we see in word study of the word "deliver" that another direct connection exists literally and in the spirit. Our deliverance obtained by the flowing of blood and water of the passage from John above.

We have explored briefly some patterns involving Daniel and his friends. This particular section of study will explore both history prior to Daniel, during Daniel and what we have in store according to scripture in the not so distant future. To help put the examples in order we can start pretty much at the beginning after the fall of man.

Romans 5:8-21 KJV
(8)But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(9)Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
(10)For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
(11)And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
(12)Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
(13)(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
(14)Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.
(15)But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
(16)And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
(17)For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
(18)Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
(19)For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
(20)Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
(21)That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Genesis 3:21-24 KJV
(21)Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
(22)And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
(23)Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
(24)So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

In between the rest of Adam's life and the flood we have a world going insane with all kinds of sins described.

Genesis 6:1-7 KJV
(1)And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
(2)That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
(3)And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
(4)There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
(5)And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
(6)And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
(7)And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Also in the midst of the fall and the flood we have a detailed account of a man called Enoch.

Genesis 5:19-29 KJV
(19)And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
(20)And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.
(21)And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah:
(22)And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters:
(23)And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
(24)And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
(25)And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech:
(26)And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:
(27)And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.
(28)And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:
(29)And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.

At this point in time we will not detail out all the factors associated to Enoch. However as we can see above he was granted a ticket out of a world gone mad with God. Even more importantly to set an example for events that would take place way down the timeline of the testaments Enoch was taken to heaven alive. This of course is also how our Savior Jesus ascended into heaven.

We also know that after Enoch was taken out of the deteriorating world the flood came. With the coming of the flood of course Noah and his family totalling 8 souls were saved.

Genesis 7:23-24 KJV
(23)And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
(24)And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

We could go on and on of course however with the individuals we looked at here and the situation of the 4 Hebrews in the book of Daniel finding many end time references can be explored.

Another time we have God demomnstrating incredible acts is during that of the prophet Elijah. Now once again here we cannot explore all the factors involving Elijah. These will be addressed subject by subject as our studies progress. An example of this would be say the rapture and its patterns to Elijah, Enoch and Jesus.

2 Kings 2:9-12 KJV
(9)And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
(10)And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
(11)And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.(12)And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

In between Enoch and Elijah we have the account of Joseph who having the same gifts of interpretation rose to the level of power attained by Daniel.

Genesis 41:15-16 KJV
(15)And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.
(16)And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

As we cannot mention enough the extremes of faith and understanding are placed into the book of Daniel. Daniel knew that God could explain the dream of the statue representing the rise and fall of global powers throughout history. Daniel knew this because he believed first and foremost in God and His power to send and explain the dreams of men. Daniel knew this in confidence also because of his firm belief in the scriptures. The history of Joseph and the fact that God had done these things before throughout biblical history.

Daniel 2:20-23 KJV
(20)Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
(21)And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:
(22)He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
(23)I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.

Genesis 41:38-43 KJV
(38)And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
(39)And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
(40)Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
(41)And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
(42)And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
(43)And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.

Daniel 2:45-49 KJV
(45)Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
(46)Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face, and worshipped Daniel, and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him.
(47)The king answered unto Daniel, and said, Of a truth it is, that your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing thou couldest reveal this secret.
(48)Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
(49)Then Daniel requested of the king, and he set Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, over the affairs of the province of Babylon: but Daniel sat in the gate of the king.

The words "deliver us" spoken by Jesus have very deep roots in scripture to say the least. It would be impossible for us to cover all the acts of deliverance throughout the scripture in a reasonable amount of time so we have hit some of the key examples contained within the scripture. These are key examples because they demonstrate the plan of salvation for all of us in the the world we know today.
The examples which we have covered include cause and effect, life and death consequences and also warning signs which we have explored within each. These are not meant to be recognized or seen as more important than say the history of Abraham. However as with many of the famous historical individuals in scripture God usually provides certain amounts of greater detail to specific situations and individuals.

1 Corinthians 10:1-12 KJV
(1)Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
(2)And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
(3)And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
(4)And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
(5)But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
(6)Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
(7)Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
(8)Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
(9)Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
(10)Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
(11)Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
(12)Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

As always God Bless

Daniel Extremity Chapter 1 Yesterday and Today:Temptation

Mat 6:5-13 KJV
(5)And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
(13)And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Let's explore bits of this passage a little bit as it relates us to the book of Daniel. It seems as though Daniel was well informed in the art of prayer and how to practice it according to Matthew 6:6.

Matthew 6:6 KJV
(6)But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Daniel 6:3-10 KJV
(3)Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
(4)Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
(5)Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
(6)Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
(7)All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
(8)Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
(9)Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
(10)Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.

(13)And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

If we slow down the the pace of our reading in this verse we discover that every subject addressed by Jesus is a very extreme connection to Daniel and his 3 Hebrew friends.

Dan 1:1-6 KJV
(1)In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.
(2)And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.
(3)And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;
(4)Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.
(5)And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.
(6)Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Mat 6:13 KJV
(13)And lead us not into temptationG3986,but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Let's look at our first subject which is temptation. This word makes a very interesting word study.

G3986πειρασμός
peirasmos
pi-ras-mos'

From G3985; a putting to proof (by experiment [of good], experience [of evil], solicitation, discipline or provocation); by implication adversity: - temptation, X try.

G3985πειράζω
peirazō
pi-rad'-zo

From G3984; to test (objectively), that is, endeavor, scrutinize, entice, discipline: - assay, examine, go about, prove, tempt (-er), try.

G3984πεῖρα
peira
pi'-rah

From the base of G4008 (through the idea of piercing); a test, that is, attempt, experience: - assaying, trial.

G4008πέραν
peran
per'-an
Apparently the accusative case of an obsolete derivation of πείρω peirō (to "peirce"); through (as adverb or preposition), that is, across: - beyond, farther (other) side, over.

Quite frankly this is a word study directly related through the holy spirit. The words flow from one end of sin to the other to the point of describing the cross and how it overcomes the temptations or sins we have committed in our lives. There will no doubt be a few folks out there asking how does this demonstrate anything. Well for starters look at the last 2 words in the study above. The association of the cross and what Jesus went through for us is quite evident is it not? The sacrifice in substitution of the world on the cross by Jesus overcomes our guilt simply by believing in His death and Resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:14-20 KJV
(14)And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
(15)Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
(16)For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
(17)And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
(18)Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
(19)If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
(20)But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

Keeping our above word study in mind let's focus the word temptation into our current study. If you have sojourned with me throughout the extremities of Daniel, you might recall our look at the trial  of 10 days without eating the king's diet.

Dan 1:8-21 KJV
(8)But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
(9)Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs.
(10)And the prince of the eunuchs said unto Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who hath appointed your meat and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse liking than the children which are of your sort? then shall ye make me endanger my head to the king.
(11)Then said Daniel to Melzar, whom the prince of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah,
(12)Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days; and let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink.(13)Then let our countenances be looked upon before thee, and the countenance of the children that eat of the portion of the king's meat: and as thou seest, deal with thy servants.
(14)So he consented to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.
(15)And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.
(16)Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
(17)As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
(18)Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.
(19)And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
(20)And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.
(21)And Daniel continued even unto the first year of king Cyrus.

We also know that at some point in the future a period of 10 days in prison is in store for the people who will not take the mark of the beast. We should stop to take a couple of looks for just a  moment at these events that are going to take place which resemble Daniel's situation concerning refusal of temptation. We have mentioned before how devestating to most of the Jewish people this march out of the promised land would have been. By reasoning we can determine that the extreme faith of the 4 Hebrew nobles to the point of a 10 day trial over food was something the average citizen was not demonstrating.

Revelation 2:8-11 KJV
(8)And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive;
(9)I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
(10)Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
(11)He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 13:16-18 KJV
(16)And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
(17)And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
(18)Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

A person who does not carry the mark of the beast will be unable to obtain food or other needs by purchase. The  individuals who fit this category due to a conversion to Jesus as the Son and Savior of the living God. It appears the circumstances will be near identical. The one thing for certain is that the trials of Revelation 2 will result in death for many.

Revelation 13:15 KJV
(15)And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Revelation 2:10 KJV
(10)Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

In the course Jesus' ministry we know He also faced some temptations from Satan himself.

Matthew 4:1-11
(1)Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
(2)And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
(3)And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
(4)But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
(5)Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
(6)And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
(7)Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
(8)Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
(9)And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
(10)Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
(11)Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Matthew 4:3-4
(3)And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
(4)But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

The tempter as we see uses food as his first efforts to influence Jesus. Maybe God is preparing the world for the coming evil that will take place in the not so distant future. We as a world have witnessed throughout history the effects of famines in the world. These were foretold and demonstrated to us throughout the Bible.

Genesis 12:9-10
(9)And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south.
(10)And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.

Gen 26:5-8 KJV
(5)Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
(6)And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:
(7)And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
(8)And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.

Gen 41:55-57 KJV
(55)And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.
(56)And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.
(57)And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.

Gen 47:1-7 KJV
(1)Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.
(2)And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.
(3)And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.(4)They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
(5)And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:
(6)The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
(7)And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

Ruth 1:1 KJV
(1)Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

2 Samuel 21:1 KJV
(1)Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David enquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

2 Samuel 24:13 KJV
(13)So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days' pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

As we can see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had encounters with famine. It was a famine that God used to bring the 12 tribes back to their full strength when Jacob and the brothers of Joseph came into the land of Goshen. It was also the interpretation by Joseph of the dream Pharaoh was having concerning the famine that brought him to power among Egypt. One thing that is interesting about these events is that each one of these men that these verses are concerned with had very great parallels to the book of Daniel. They were all considered leaders amongst the people. All of the above in one way or another spent time in captivity or lived in foreign lands. They all obtained great favor not only with God but also acquired great respect in the sense of awe such as the Philistines, Egyptians and Babylonians to name a few.

Daniel 1:15-17 KJV(15)And at the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the portion of the king's meat.
(16)Thus Melzar took away the portion of their meat, and the wine that they should drink; and gave them pulse.
(17)As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

Joh 6:27-29 KJV
(27)Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
(28)Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
(29)Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Daniel Extremity 12:13 Connections and Reflections

Dan 12:13 KJV
(13) But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Well folks here we are at the end of a long journey through the book of Daniel. It has hopefully been a pleasurable and eye opening journey for those who have taken the adventure all the way to this point. This by no means will be the last we reference the great prophet. As a matter of fact the last word Daniel receives within this prophecy assures him and us we have a great place awaiting us but even more important a Messiah coming to rule this kingdom. As with many of the passages we looked at the final verse seems to have meaning to a couple of earlier statements.

Dan 12:9-10 KJV
(9) And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
(10) Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

Dan 12:1-4 KJV
(1) And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
(2) And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
(3) And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
(4) But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

Dan 12:4 KJV
(4) But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledgeH1847 shall be increased.

H1847
דּעת
da‛ath
dah'-ath
From H3045; knowledge: - cunning, [ig-] norantly, know(-ledge), [un-] awares (wittingly).

H3045
ידע
yâda‛yaw-dah'
A primitive root; to know (properly to ascertain by seeing); used in a great variety of senses, figuratively, literally, euphemistically and inferentially (including observation, care, recognition; and causatively instruction, designation, punishment, etc.): - acknowledge, acquaintance (-ted with), advise, answer, appoint, assuredly, be aware, [un-] awares, can [-not], certainly, for a certainty, comprehend, consider, X could they, cunning, declare, be diligent, (can, cause to) discern, discover, endued with, familiar friend, famous, feel, can have, be [ig-] norant, instruct, kinsfolk, kinsman, (cause to, let, make) know, (come to give, have, take) knowledge, have [knowledge], (be, make, make to be, make self) known, + be learned, + lie by man, mark, perceive, privy to, X prognosticator, regard, have respect, skilful, shew, can (man of) skill, be sure, of a surety, teach, (can) tell, understand, have [understanding], X will be, wist, wit, wot.

After looking into the definitions of these words we can learn something. This something being that all who desire so can make themselves familiar with the times by applying scriptural understanding to what we see in the world. How do we know that this is where the answer lies? Well let's let the scripture answer the question.

Mat 5:16-19 KJV

(16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
(17) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
(18) For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
(19) Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

As we have mentioned so many times in our journeys Jesus in a nut shell is telling us to go back and study the prophets for the shape of things to come beyond His earthly ministry.

Luk 21:20-22 KJV
(20) And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
(21) Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
(22) For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

Joh 17:9-26 KJV
(9) I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
(10) And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.
(11) And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
(12) While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
(13) And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
(14) I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
(15) I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
(16) They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
(17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
(18) As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
(19) And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
(20) Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
(21) That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
(22) And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
(23) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
(24) Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
(25) O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
(26) And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Joh 16:1-6 KJV
(1) These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.
(2) They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
(3) And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.
(4) But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.
(5) But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?
(6) But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

Rom 15:1-6 KJV
(1) We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
(2) Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
(3) For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
(4) For whatsoever things were written aforetimeG4270 were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
(5) Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
(6) That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Now there will always be those who seem to want to live completely in the NT world of Christianity. Before we continue further let's explore our highlighted word from verse 4.

G4270
προγράφω
prographōprog-raf'-o
From G4253 and G1125; to write previously; figuratively to announce, prescribe: - before ordain, evidently set forth, write (afore, aforetime).

Where in the world is it that all these things addressed by Paul are discovered and shared in unity? Well quite simply realizing that both testaments of scripture are married. If you would like to check out a few things in scriptures that tell us so (a couple of personal favorites) please check out Reasons for the Seasons 1 and 2. Perhaps one of the most important pictures painted other than Jesus' teachings of course is found here in 1st Corinthians.

1Co 10:9-14 KJV
(9) Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
(10) Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
(11) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamplesG5179: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
(12) Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
(13) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
(14) Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Let's stop and explore this word ensamples.

G5179
τύπος
tupostoo'-pos
From G5180; a die (as struck), that is, (by implication) a stamp or scar; by analogy a shape, that is, a statue, (figuratively) style or resemblance; specifically a sampler ("type"), that is, a model (for imitation) or instance (for warning): - en- (ex-) ample, fashion, figure, form, manner, pattern, print.

Now let's consider those passages we call upon so often.

Ecc 1:9-11 KJV
(9) The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
(10) Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
(11) There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

Ecc 3:14-17 KJV
(14) I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
(15) That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.
(16) And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.
(17) I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

If you by chance and there is a good one have not explored some of the other pages concerning hurricane Katrina and role reversals of the nations perhaps some interests may be found there. Something that came to mind as this was being completed is in the fundamental fact that we are dealing with patterns in world history which the Bible clearly calls for . For believers the coincidence factor does not exist.

Now if you please stay tuned for a journey or an attempted summary to the connections shown in scripture between Daniel and the NT.
