Welcome to the World of Biblical Prophecy for History and Today

This Blog is intended to help myself and others gain the best understanding of the world around us through exploration of prophetic scripture. The Bible is the text book. Through these studies we will hopefully provide understanding to both believer and unbeliever alike. The way our God and our Savior Jesus distinguish themselves in the spiritual world is through prophetic means. In other words what the Bible teaches us through fullfillment of these prophecies shows us the truth. Let's take some prophetic journeys through history and at the same time learn about the world around us today. Please try and be patient with any typographical errors as I am my own typist and my own research staff. Thanks

Introduction The Zechariah Zone

The Zechariah Zone
Introduction

Mat 23:31-36 KJV  Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.  (32)  Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.  (33)  Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?  (34)  Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:  (35)  That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.  (36)  Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

Zec 1:1 KJV  In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

Although every book in the OT has some prophetic information contained within it certain prophets shared more than others. We here in the ministry consider every book of the Bible to be prophetically inspired. We took an extensive journey through the book of Daniel called the Daniel Extremity. Chapter by chapter we explored the prophecies contained therein. We are going to take the same journey through the book of Zechariah and entitled these the Zechariah Zone.

Zechariah in Hebrew means the Lord remembers. It is a somewhat popular name in the Bible. Approximately 30 different men are named Zechariah in the Bible. Our Zechariah the prophet written in the Bible was the grandson of Iddo.

Zec 1:1 KJV  In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto ZechariahH2148, the son of BerechiahH1296, the son of IddoH5714 the prophet, saying,

H2148

zek-ar-yaw', zek-ar-yaw'-hoo
From H2142 and H3050; Jah has remembered; Zecarjah, the name of twenty nine Israelites: - Zachariah, Zechariah.
Total KJV occurrences: 43

H1296

beh-rek-yaw', beh-rek-yaw'-hoo
From H1290 and H3050; knee (that is, blessing) of Jah; Berekjah, the name of six Israelites: - Berachiah, Berechiah.
Total KJV occurrences: 11

H5714
עִדִּיא    עִדּוֹא    עִדּוֹo
‛iddô    ‛iddô'    ‛iddı̂y'
id-do', id-do', id-dee'
From H5710; timely; Iddo (or Iddi), the name of five Israelites: - Iddo. Compare H3035, H3260.
Total KJV occurrences: 10

It’s pretty impressive the 3 generations of the prophet’s family spells out God remembers, God blesses and His witness.  We could put it this way His witness(Iddo) God Blesses (Berechiah) and God remembers (Zechariah).

As we developed into the later stages of the rapture and Ezekiel 38 and 39 the book of Zechariah particularly the last 3 chapters came into play. The book of Zechariah much like that of all the prophets speaks about the Lord’s day and also points us to the book of Revelation in almost every chapter.

Very few books of the OT give us as many references to the book of Revelation and the end of the age fulfillment as Zechariah. His prophecies and those in the book of Daniel almost entirely reference this time of the Bible.

Zechariah was a priest as well as being prophet. He was a contemporary of Haggai. History tells us he was involved in the natural realm with the completion of Zerubbabel’s temple. His book is also heavily noted for its call to repentance. It amazes me how much as I go through the references pertaining to Zechariah that the intensity and the spirit surrounding his prophecies seem for lack of a better word limited. It’s quite clear to yours truly that his book much like the book of Daniel gives clear pathways to the second coming of Jesus and certain other events. Like reference to Jesus’ death. Events that are found in the book of Revelation. As members of our group or for those who read this on the web you are always welcome to believe what you wish. The reason we are stating this is because as with Daniel some scholars feel that Zechariah did not complete the entire book.

Most scholars place his writings in 2 categories. The first 8 chapters and then chapters 9-14.
As a matter of fact Zechariah sees things and describes them much as what we explored in Daniel. Things like biblical empires.

A Vision of Horns and Craftsmen

Zec 1:18-21 KJV  Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.  (19)  And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What be these? And he answered me, These are the hornsH7161 which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.  (20)  And the LORD shewed me four carpenters.  (21)  Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.

H7161
קֶרֶן
qeren
keh'-ren
From H7160; a horn (as projecting); by implication a flask, cornet; by resemblance an elephant’s tooth (that is, ivory), a corner (of the altar), a peak (of a mountain), a ray (of light); figuratively power: -  X hill, horn.
Total KJV occurrences: 76

This is the same word used throughout the book of Daniel describing kingdoms. In this case the 4 would be Assyria, Babylon , Greece and Rome. Zechariah though perhaps not fully aware of the coming kingdoms predicted this about the Roman empire 590 years before it took place. He received his words in 520 BC and the Romans destroyed the temple, Jerusalem and scattered the people in 70 AD.

We have explored Zechariah’s vision of the olive trees who go on to become the 2 witnesses of the book of Revelation during our more recent journeys through the rapture. We will redevelop that and some new things along with it most likely in our journey through the book.

A Vision of a Golden Lampstand

Zec 4:1-4 KJV  And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,  (2)  And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestickH4501 all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:  (3)  And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.  (4)  So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?

H4501
מְנֹרָה    מְנוֹרָה
menôrâh    menôrâh
men-o-raw', men-o-raw'
Feminine of H4500 (in the original sense of H5216); a chandelier: - candlestick.
Total KJV occurrences: 42

We will be exploring the strange female figures that Zechariah tells us about in chapter 5. The first 8 chapters cover 3 different visions. However when we say this around here we also need to add that we will explore the prophecies at a slower pace than throwing them all together.
A Vision of a Woman in a Basket

Zec 5:5-11 KJV  Then the angel that talked with me went forth, and said unto me, Lift up now thine eyes, and see what is this that goeth forth.  (6)  And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance through all the earth.  (7)  And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah.  (8)  And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.  (9)  Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.  (10)  Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?  (11)  And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.

The vision of the 4 chariots in the next chapter being chapter 6

Zec 6:1-6 KJV  And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass.  (2)  In the first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses;  (3)  And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.  (4)  Then I answered and said unto the angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord?  (5)  And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the Lord of all the earth.  (6)  The black horses which are therein go forth into the north country; and the white go forth after them; and the grisled go forth toward the south country.

We will also look at the messages of peace and prosperity that the end of the age will bring with it.

The Coming Peace and Prosperity of Zion

Zec 8:1-6 KJV  Again the word of the LORD of hosts came to me, saying,  (2)  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.  (3)  Thus saith the LORD; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the LORD of hosts the holy mountain.  (4)  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.  (5)  And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.  (6)  Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the LORD of hosts.

It’s at this point in Zechariah some scholars want to say that chapters 9-14 are written by someone else. Just like in the book of Daniel many scholars feel that the degree of accuracy is too much. We do not apologize for stating that just like Daniel we here in the ministry understand that God knew what we would be reading before he created the universe. You decide for yourself but we simply feel the book of Zechariah was written entirely by Zechariah. We will briefly preview a little of the remaining chapters. You see when God is putting down the words there is no limitation to accuracy. Amen!

Chapter 9 has 3 main topics Judgment upon the enemies of Israel, the coming Messiah and the redemption He offers.

Judgment on Israel's Enemies

Zec 9:1-5 KJV  The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD.  (2)  And Hamath also shall border thereby; Tyrus, and Zidon, though it be very wise.  (3)  And Tyrus did build herself a strong hold, and heaped up silver as the dust, and fine gold as the mire of the streets.  (4)  Behold, the Lord will cast her out, and he will smite her power in the sea; and she shall be devoured with fire.  (5)  Ashkelon shall see it, and fear; Gaza also shall see it, and be very sorrowful, and Ekron; for her expectation shall be ashamed; and the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited.

The Coming King of Zion

Zec 9:9 KJV  Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

The Lord Will Save His People

Zec 9:14-16 KJV  And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south.  (15)  The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour, and subdue with sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar.  (16)  And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon his land.

Chapter 10 contains information pertaining to the restoration of Israel both as we see today and for the future kingdom.

The Restoration for Judah and Israel

Zec 10:6-8 KJV  And I will strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph, and I will bring them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the LORD their God, and will hear them.  (7)  And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD.  (8)  I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: and they shall increase as they have increased.

Chapter 11  a reminder of judgment upon the nation itself not the enemies or the Gentiles.

The Flock Doomed to Slaughter

Zec 11:4-7 KJV  Thus saith the LORD my God; Feed the flock of the slaughter;  (5)  Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the LORD; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.  (6)  For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them.  (7)  And I will feed the flock of slaughter, even you, O poor of the flock. And I took unto me two staves; the one I called Beauty, and the other I called Bands; and I fed the flock.
Chapter 12 thru 14 contain information that we have explored in other journeys through scripture. However we will be exploring these in greater detail and gain better understanding for doing so. They contain information regarding the calamity that we will soon be witnessing regarding Jerusalem. Also he return of Jesus as Lord to split the Mount of Olives in half and destroy the enemies once and for all. Praise God

The Lord Will Give Salvation

Zec 12:6-9 KJV  In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem.  (7)  The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah.  (8)  In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.  (9)  And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Him Whom They Have Pierced

Zec 12:10-11 KJV  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.  (11)  In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

Idolatry Cut Off

Zec 13:4-6 KJV  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:  (5)  But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.  (6)  And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.

The Shepherd Struck

Zec 13:7-9 KJV  Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow, saith the LORD of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones.  (8)  And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.  (9)  And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

Zechariah and Haggai begin to receive the word about the same time.
Let’s explore a little bit of the history concerning the resettlement of Jerusalem and the temple construction.

The history associated with the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem was in a prophecy given by Isaiah in chapter 44. The prophecy was given approximately 150 years prior to the events.

Isa 44:24-28 KJV  Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;  (25)  That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;  (26)  That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:  (27)  That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:  (28)  That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

The Proclamation of Cyrus

Ezr 1:1-11 KJV  Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,  (2)  Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.  (3)  Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.  (4)  And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.  (5)  Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.  (6)  And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.  (7)  Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;  (8)  Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.  (9)  And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,  (10)  Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.  (11)  All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.

Hag 1:1-2 KJV  In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai the prophet unto Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,  (2)  Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, This people say, The time is not come, the time that the LORD'S house should be built.

Zec 1:1 KJV  In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

As we see the prophets received their words within about 60 days of one another. This is a period of prophetic history which patterns into our world today. The way this happens is through the restoration of a temple and a city that ruled the nation of Israel. Then a prediction for a coming Messiah.

In our world today as we have explored many times we have a restoration of a chosen nation by God in 1948. Then we have a city called Jerusalem coming under Israel’s control in the 6 day war in1967. Then guess what we are waiting on the Messiah to return. We will be exploring all of these subjects and more in depth as we journey into the Zechariah Zone.

As always thanks for sharing a word
God Bless

The Acharon 11 Psalm 102

The Acharon 11
Psalm 102

Luk 22:23-44 KJV  And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.  (24)  And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.  (25)  And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors.  (26)  But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve.  (27)  For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.  (28)  Ye are they which have continued with me in my temptations.  (29)  And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me;  (30)  That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.  (31)  And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:  (32)  But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.  (33)  And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.  (34)  And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.  (35)  And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.  (36)  Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.  (37)  For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.  (38)  And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.  (39)  And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him.  (40)  And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.  (41)  And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,  (42)  Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.  (43)  And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.  (44)  And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Psa 102:1-28 KJV  A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.  (2)  Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.  (3)  For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.  (4)  My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.  (5)  By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.  (6)  I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.  (7)  I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.  (8)  Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.  (9)  For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,  (10)  Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.  (11)  My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.  (12)  But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.  (13)  Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.  (14)  For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.  (15)  So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.  (16)  When the LORD shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory.  (17)  He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.  (18)  This shall be written for the generationH1755 to comeH314: and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.  (19)  For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;  (20)  To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;  (21)  To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;  (22)  When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.  (23)  He weakened my strength in the way; he shortened my days.  (24)  I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.  (25)  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.  (26)  They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:  (27)  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.  (28)  The children of thy servants shall continue, and their seed shall be established before thee.

H1755

H314

'achăryôn    'achărôn
akh-ar-one', akh-ar-one'

Well friends for those who are not familiar with these studies here is what they are about. These studies are based upon a word a Hebrew word that designates some very specific people on earth. A generation of people described as being the last generation to face the enemies of the east. Think about that the next time we see Iran rattling their war sabers in the middle east.

Our word “acharon”  does not always imply the definition above. It does have very prophetic qualities in many passages. Such as the one we are exploring today.

Psa 102:1-2 KJV  A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before the LORD. Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.  (2)  Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.

Psa 13:1-6 KJV  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?  (2)  How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?  (3)  Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;  (4)  Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.  (5)  But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.  (6)  I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

As we often have we can reach into the Psalms to find words of strength. We have explored how Daniel drew his strength from prayer and knowledge of the Psalms. They were required reading so to speak. Every prophet to include Jesus Himself spoke from the Psalms. The one we are exploring today is indicative of so so many passages that include desperation , judgment, redemption , protection and salvation and as we mentioned prophetic quality. These are just a few subjects the Psalms address we are not pretending that we stated them all here.

Psa 143:1-12 KJV  A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.  (2)  And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.  (3)  For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.  (4)  Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.  (5)  I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.  (6)  I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.  (7)  Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.  (8)  Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.  (9)  Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.  (10)  Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.  (11)  Quicken me, O LORD, for thy name's sake: for thy righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.  (12)  And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

Job 34:29-32 KJV  When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:  (30)  That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.  (31)  Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:  (32)  That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

1Co 10:1-3 KJV  Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;  (2)  And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;  (3)  And did all eat the same spiritual meat;

1Co 10:4-5 KJV  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.  (5)  But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

1Co 10:6-8 KJV  Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.  (7)  Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.  (8)  Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

1Co 10:9-14 KJV  Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.  (10)  Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.  (11)  Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.  (12)  Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.  (13)  There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.  (14)  Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Psa 102:3-7 KJV  For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.

This is exactly how the Jewish people suffered at the hands of the Babylonians and the Romans. Also much of their existence in the 20th century after the restoration in 1948 has been dealing with wars and terror. In the forms of suicide bombings, shootings, knife attacks and the sort. As we progress through this Psalm its prophetic qualities will come through as well. Qualities that pertain to how Jesus felt upon the cross.

Lam 1:8-13 KJV  Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.  (9)  Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully: she had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction: for the enemy hath magnified himself.  (10)  The adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her sanctuary, whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.  (11)  All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: see, O LORD, and consider; for I am become vile.  (12)  Is it nothing to you, all ye that pass by? behold, and see if there be any sorrow like unto my sorrow, which is done unto me, wherewith the LORD hath afflicted me in the day of his fierce anger.  (13)  From above hath he sent fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me desolate and faint all the day.

Lam 3:1-13 KJV  I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.  (2)  He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.  (3)  Surely against me is he turned; he turneth his hand against me all the day.  (4)  My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones.  (5)  He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail.  (6)  He hath set me in dark places, as they that be dead of old.  (7)  He hath hedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.  (8)  Also when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.  (9)  He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.  (10)  He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places.  (11)  He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he hath made me desolate.  (12)  He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.  (13)  He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

Psa 102:8-11 KJV  Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.  (9)  For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping,  (10)  Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.  (11)  My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

Modern day examples of the reproach spoken of here would be when nations like Iran and the wannabe Palestinian state threaten to “wipe Israel off the map”. Calling Jewish people things like descendants of “apes and pigs”. Iran should be questioning where the protection of their “god” is right now in the middle of the world’s current pestilence.

Israel has had to deal with 3 major wars since rebirthing in 1948. The 1st immediately after declaring statehood. The next 19 years later with the 6 day war of 1967. Then the Yom Kippur war in 1973. We also know that there have been many incursions on both sides of the fence but all caused by Israel’s enemies. We stand firm on that subject.

In addition to the taunting itself today we see there has always been a history of it in the Bible. Let’s see if we can find some examples.

1Sa 17:1-10 KJV  Now the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle, and were gathered together at Shochoh, which belongeth to Judah, and pitched between Shochoh and Azekah, in Ephesdammim.  (2)  And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and pitched by the valley of Elah, and set the battle in array against the Philistines.  (3)  And the Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them.  (4)  And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.  (5)  And he had an helmet of brass upon his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail; and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of brass.  (6)  And he had greaves of brass upon his legs, and a target of brass between his shoulders.  (7)  And the staff of his spear was like a weaver's beam; and his spear's head weighed six hundred shekels of iron: and one bearing a shield went before him.  (8)  And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me.  (9)  If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us.  (10)  And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.

1Sa 17:22-26 KJV  And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.  (23)  And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.  (24)  And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.  (25)  And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up: and it shall be, that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.  (26)  And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

1Sa 17:42-51 KJV  And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.  (43)  And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.  (44)  And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.  (45)  Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.  (46)  This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.  (47)  And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.  (48)  And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.  (49)  And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.  (50)  So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.  (51)  Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

Here was 1 good example of an enemy taunting Israel. Of course in a circumstance like this the Philistines were also taunting God as well. However it was not quite the direct shot the Assyrians were dumb enough to take at God.

2Ki 18:17-37 KJV  And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rabsaris and Rabshakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great host against Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fuller's field.  (18)  And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.  (19)  And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?  (20)  Thou sayest, (but they are but vain words,) I have counsel and strength for the war. Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?  (21)  Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt, on which if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.  (22)  But if ye say unto me, We trust in the LORD our God: is not that he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?  (23)  Now therefore, I pray thee, give pledges to my lord the king of Assyria, and I will deliver thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.  (24)  How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?  (25)  Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said to me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.  (26)  Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebna, and Joah, unto Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and talk not with us in the Jews' language in the ears of the people that are on the wall.  (27)  But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?  (28)  Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spake, saying, Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria:  (29)  Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you out of his hand:  (30)  Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.  (31)  Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:  (32)  Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of oil olive and of honey, that ye may live, and not die: and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying, The LORD will deliver us.  (33)  Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered at all his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?  (34)  Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah? have they delivered Samaria out of mine hand?  (35)  Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of mine hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of mine hand?  (36)  But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.  (37)  Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rabshakeh.

Here is a direct slap at the Lord Himself in addition to Israel or should we say Judah. We know how this one turned out as well.

2Ki 19:15-37 KJV  And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.  (16)  LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.  (17)  Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,  (18)  And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.  (19)  Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.  (20)  Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.  (21)  This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.  (22)  Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.  (23)  By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.  (24)  I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.  (25)  Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.  (26)  Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.  (27)  But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.  (28)  Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.  (29)  And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.  (30)  And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.  (31)  For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.  (32)  Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.  (33)  By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.  (34)  For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.  (35)  And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.  (36)  So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.  (37)  And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

At this point the Psalm takes a very prophetic turn. It turns toward the positive and restoration. Notice the words used are set time. As we will continue to see the end time prophecies come into the picture.

Psa 102:12-15 KJV  But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations.  (13)  Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set timeH4150, is come.  (14)  For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof.  (15)  So the heathen shall fear the name of the LORD, and all the kings of the earth thy glory.

There have been many set times in the realm of the Bible. Especially in the world of biblical prophecy you will find these. One good example would be when God announces to Abraham and Sarah they would be having a child.

Gen 17:15-22 KJV  And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be.  (16)  And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.  (17)  Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?  (18)  And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!  (19)  And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.  (20)  And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.  (21)  But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.  (22)  And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.

Gen 21:1-2 KJV  And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken.  (2)  For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

Psa 9:1-10 KJV  To the chief Musician upon Muthlabben, A Psalm of David. Deu 33:26-29 KJV  There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.  (27)  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.  (28)  Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.  (29)  Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

The last generation of folks facing their enemies to the east. When we start adding all the prophecies up it looks like some sort of new birthing of the Persian empire possibly. This generation of folks will belong to the Lord and is created to praise Him. Well guess what friends we as Christians are those folks mentioned here. As we have mentioned over the years some conditions had to exist prophetically speaking for the Lord to return. Some of those are
  1. Israel must be a nation
  2. Jerusalem would have to be under Israeli control
  3. A temple will have to be built at some point to house the antichrist the rapture may or may not precede this
Isa 55:1-7 KJV  Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.  (2)  Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.  (3)  Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.  (4)  Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.  (5)  Behold, thou shalt call a nationH1471 that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.  (6)  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:  (7)  Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,  (3)  Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.  (4)  But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.  (5)  Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.  (6)  And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.  (7)  What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded  (8)  (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.  (9)  And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:  (10)  Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

Psa 69:23 KJV  Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.

Rom 11:11-21 KJV  I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.  (12)  Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?  (13)  For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:  (14)  If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.  (15)  For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?  (16)  For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.  (17)  And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;  (18)  Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.  (19)  Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.  (20)  Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:  (21)  For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

2Co 5:17-21 KJV  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  (18)  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  (19)  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  (20)  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.  (21)  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Psa 102:19-22 KJV  For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;  (20)  To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death;  (21)  To declare the name of the LORD in Zion, and his praise in Jerusalem;  (22)  When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.

Heb 9:19-28 KJV  For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,  (20)  Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.  (21)  Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.  (22)  And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.  (23)  It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.  (24)  For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:  (25)  Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;  (26)  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.  (27)  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:  (28)  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Isa 61:1-3 KJV  The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;  (2)  To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;  (3)  To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

Luk 4:16-21 KJV  And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.  (17)  And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,  (18)  The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  (19)  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.  (20)  And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.  (21)  And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

As we like to point out when we visit this passage Jesus at this point in time leaves one thing from Isaiah out for now. That one thing being to declare the day of the Lord’s vengeance.

Eph 2:1-10 KJV  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;  (2)  Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:  (3)  Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.  (4)  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  (5)  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  (6)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:  (7)  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  (8)  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  (9)  Not of works, lest any man should boast.  (10)  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Mat 24:11-14 KJV  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  (12)  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  (13)  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.  (14)  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

1Th 4:13-18 KJV  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  (14)  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  (15)  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  (16)  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  (17)  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  (18)  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Psa 102:23-24 KJV  He weakened my strength in the wayH1870; he shortened my days.  (24)  I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days: thy years are throughout all generations.

We see natural and spiritual circumstances taking place here within the Psalm. According to some commentaries here we are dealing with a Psalmist who is at near death. We see that too yet another thought popped into our heads here as we read this. Let’s start with a word study here.

H1870

derek
deh'-rek
From H1869; a road (as trodden); figuratively a course of life or mode of action, often adverbially: - along, away, because of, + by, conversation, custom, [east-] ward, journey, manner, passenger, through, toward, [high-] [path-] way [-side], whither [-soever].

Now let’s look at a passage many of us are familiar with.

Joh 14:1-7 KJV  Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  (2)  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  (3)  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.  (4)  And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.  (5)  Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?  (6)  Jesus saith unto him, I am the wayG3598, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  (7)  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

G3598
ὁδός
hodos
hod-os'
Apparently a primary word; a road; by implication a progress (the route, act or distance); figuratively a mode or means: - journey, (high-) way.
Total KJV occurrences: 102

If we look closely at our Hebrew and Greek words we have the exact same message being sent. Jesus’ way and this one as far as definitions go are exactly the same.

Mat 26:26-29 KJV  And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.  (27)  And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;  (28)  For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.  (29)  But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

Mat 26:30-35 KJV  And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.  (31)  Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.  (32)  But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.  (33)  Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.  (34)  Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.  (35)  Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Mat 26:36-41 KJV  Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.  (37)  And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.  (38)  Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.  (39)  And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.  (40)  And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?  (41)  Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

We would suggest this Psalm has a spiritually prophetic meaning associated to Jesus. It also blends right in to the other prophetic aspects we have mentioned that are involved in forming a people described here which will worship the Lord.

Psa 102:25-28 KJV  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

Mat 5:17-20 KJV  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  (18)  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  (19)  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  (20)  For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Luk 16:17 KJV  And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Luk 21:33-36 KJV  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.  (34)  And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.  (35)  For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.  (36)  Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Gen 1:1-5 KJV  In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  (2)  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. Rev 22:7-21 KJV  Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.  (8)  And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.  (9)  Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.  (10)  And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.  (11)  He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.  (12)  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.  (13)  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.  (14)  Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.  (15)  For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.  (16)  I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.  (21)  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Well friends as we explored this Psalm regarding the last generation facing the east we discovered that this Psalm was very prophetic indeed. As we read and understand this world will pass away but the word of the Lord goes on forever.

Luk 21:29-36 KJV  And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;  (30)  When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.  (31)  So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.  (32)  Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.  (33)  Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

Mat 24:14 KJV  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Rev 22:16-21 KJV  I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.  (17)  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.  (18)  For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:  (19)  And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.  (20)  He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.  (21)  The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

As always thanks for sharing a word
