Welcome to the World of Biblical Prophecy for History and Today

This Blog is intended to help myself and others gain the best understanding of the world around us through exploration of prophetic scripture. The Bible is the text book. Through these studies we will hopefully provide understanding to both believer and unbeliever alike. The way our God and our Savior Jesus distinguish themselves in the spiritual world is through prophetic means. In other words what the Bible teaches us through fullfillment of these prophecies shows us the truth. Let's take some prophetic journeys through history and at the same time learn about the world around us today. Please try and be patient with any typographical errors as I am my own typist and my own research staff. Thanks

The Isaiah Factor 3:6-26 Continuing Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem

The Isaiah Factor 3:6-26
Continuing Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem

Your Word Is a Lamp to My Feet

Psa 119:73-80  JOD. Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.  (74)  They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.  (75)  I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right, and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.  (76)  Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.  (77)  Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight.  (78)  Let the proud be ashamed; for they dealt perversely with me without a cause: but I will meditate in thy precepts.  (79)  Let those that fear thee turn unto me, and those that have known thy testimonies.  (80)  Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.

Ecc 1:9-11 KJV  The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.  (10)  Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.  (11)  There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

Ecc 3:14-15 KJV  I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.  (15)  That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

Ecc 3:16-17 KJV  And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.  (17)  I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

Mat 5:17-20 KJV  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  (18)  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  (19)  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  (20)  For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Hello again Friends. Continuing with Isaiah chapter 3 for this journey. We left off looking at the foundations that make up a great society being broken down.

Isa 3:1-5  For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,  (2)  The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,  (3)  The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.  (4)  And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.  (5)  And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

Psa 11:3  If the foundationsH8356be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

foundationsH8356
שָׁתָה
shâthâh
shaw-thaw'  From H7896; a basis, that is, (figuratively) political or moral support: - foundation, purpose.  Total KJV occurrences: 2

Here in America there is a force driving the same type of actions between young and old. On almost any given day you can find some type of violent actions being committed by the young against the old and young alike. People are not near as prideful of their nation here in America as say compared to the era of WWII. The world has people like Greta whatever her name is lecturing the world about climate change. Let’s continue our journey through Isaiah 3.

Judgment on Judah and Jerusalem

Isa 3:6-11  When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:  (7)  In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.  (8)  For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.  (9)  The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.  (10)  Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.  (11)  Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Remember this passage centers around the political and moral foundations of society being brought down. The young and rebellious taking over.

Isa 3:6  When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:

We will turn to John Gill’s Exposition of the Bible for some explanation on this passage.

Isaiah 3:6

When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father,.... One of the same country, kindred, and family; for only one of their brethren, and not a stranger, might rule over them, Deu_17:15 this taking hold of him may design not so much a literal taking hold of his person, his hand or garment, much less using any forcible measures with him; though indeed the Jews would have took Christ by force, who was one of their brethren, and would have made him a temporal king, which he refused, as this man did here spoken of, Jhn_6:15 but rather an importunate desire and entreaty, urging him, as follows,

saying, thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler; that is, he had good and rich clothing, fit for a ruler or civil magistrate to appear in, which everyone had not, and some scarce any in those troublesome times:

and let this ruin be under thy hand; that is, let thy care, concern, and business, be to raise up the almost ruined state of the city and nation; and let thy hand be under it, to support and maintain it. The Targum is,"and this power shall be under thy hand;''
thou shalt have power and government over the nation, and the honour and greatness which belong unto it, and all shall be subject unto thee. The Septuagint renders it, "let my meat be under thee", or "from thee", as the Arabic version.

Isa 3:7-8  In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healerH2280; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.  (8)  For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

We want to remind everyone that Isaiah is announcing these events and issues around 150 years or so before they took place.

healerH2280
חָבַשׁ
châbash
khaw-bash'  A primitive root; to wrap firmly (especially a turban, compress, or saddle); figuratively to stop, to rule: - bind (up), gird about, govern, healer, put, saddle, wrap about.  Total KJV occurrences: 33

The conditions within are so bad that no one especially people who might normally desire power want nothing to do with it. The damage to the country so bad that no one dares try and heal or fix things. The name of Judah is found 29 times in the book of Isaiah. The name of Jerusalem is found 49 times in the book of Isaiah.

The name of Judah is found 183 times alone in the book of Jeremiah. Jerusalem is found 108 times. Jeremiah gives some of the details about the fate that Isaiah first proclaimed.

Jer 1:1-3  The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:  (2)  To whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.  (3)  It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.

The Call of Jeremiah

Jer 1:4-10  Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,  (5)  Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.  (6)  Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.  (7)  But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.  (8)  Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.  (9)  Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.  (10)  See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

Jer 1:11-14  Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.  (12)  Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.  (13)  And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.  (14)  Then the LORD said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.

Jer 1:15-19  For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the LORD; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.  (16)  And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.  (17)  Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.  (18)  For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.  (19)  And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the LORD, to deliver thee.

The same message was given by Isaiah back in our look at chapter 2.

Isa 2:6-8  Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.  (7)  Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:  (8)  Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:

In other words the same evil doings that were happening in Isaiah’s day persisted until the messages of Jeremiah. ABBA Father becoming more and more angrier as time moved on. We would like to touch upon one more thing here. That being a short passage from Jeremiah 2.

Jer 2:26-30  As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,  (27)  Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.  (28)  But where are thy gods that thou hast made thee? let them arise, if they can save thee in the time of thy trouble: for according to the number of thy cities are thy gods, O Judah.  (29)  Wherefore will ye plead with me? ye all have transgressed against me, saith the LORD.  (30)  In vain have I smitten your children; they received no correction: your own sword hath devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.

Verse 27 describes the number 1 enemy of the Creator. That being the theory of evolution. We can see that the overall problem with evolution has roots going way back into biblical history.

Jer 2:27  Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us.

Just as these falsehoods swallowed up the nation of Israel, including Judah and Jerusalem, they are swallowing up people more than ever in today’s world.

Isa 3:9-11  The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not.

Isaiah describes people as being proud to declare their sinful ways. This again takes place more in today’s world than even then. There is a passage from Romans 1 that describes this attitude.

God's Wrath on Unrighteousness

Rom 1:18-23  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;  (19)  Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.  (20)  For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:  (21)  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.  (22)  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,  (23)  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Rom 1:24-27  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:  (25)  Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.  (26)  For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:  (27)  And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

So it’s easy to see the problem facing all Israel then is a problem now for America. We will not speak to any other nation. We hope the readers will take it upon themselves to watch as Lord Yeshua commands us.

No One Knows That Day or Hour

Mar 13:32-37  But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.  (33)  Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.  (34)  For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.  (35)  Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:  (36)  Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.  (37)  And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

We must remember also that Paul left us with this message.

The Day of the Lord

1Th 5:1-6  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  (2)  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  (3)  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  (4)  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  (5)  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.  (6)  Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

1Th 5:7-11  For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.  (8)  But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.  (9)  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,  (10)  Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.  (11)  Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

Now let’s get back to Isaiah

Isa 3:12-14  As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.  (13)  The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.  (14)  The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

Isa 3:4  And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

We made the statement earlier about Greta whatever her name is lecturing the world at the UN. This could become the way of the future for many nations. We pray that ours and yours stay sane in the word of the LORD Yeshua and ABBA Father. You know like say king Tut or something along the lines thereof.

What Defiles a Person

Mat 15:10-14  And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:  (11)  Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.  (12)  Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?  (13)  But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  (14)  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

We have been teaching the young over the last couple of decades it’s our job to save the planet. We have yoga and homosexuality taking root in many “denominations” around the country. We all know that the Methodist church apparently decided to abandon scripture. They had the biggest “split” out there so far. Pagan religions run rampant across our nation if not the entire world. Once again the things having been and the things that shall be.

Isa 3:13  The LORD standeth up to pleadH7378, and standeth to judgeH1777 the people.

to plead,H7378
רוּב    רִיב
rı̂yb    rûb
reeb, roob  A primitive root; properly to toss, that is, grapple; mostly figuratively to wrangle, that is, hold a controversy; (by implication) to defend: - adversary, chide, complain, contend, debate, X ever, X lay wait, plead, rebuke, strive, X thoroughly.  Total KJV occurrences: 66

judgeH1777
דּוּן    דִּין
dı̂yn    dûn
deen, doon  A primitive root (compare H113); to rule; by implication to judge (as umpire); also to strive (as at law): - contend, execute (judgment), judge, minister judgment, plead (the cause), at strife, strive.  Total KJV occurrences: 24

We don’t want to paint a wrong picture here. Looking at these definitions it’s important to note there is a more contentious description than what the KJV reads here. As with many folks the fear of ABBA Father is forgotten about. It was forgotten after the fall. It was forgotten after the flood. It was forgotten after the tower. It was forgotten after Babylon and it was forgotten before, during and after the cross.

Increasing Corruption on Earth

Gen 6:1-3  And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,  (2)  That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.  (3)  And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always striveH1777 with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Deu 32:35-38  To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.  (36)  For the LORD shall judgeH1777his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.  (37)  And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,  (38)  Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

Psa 7:8  The LORD shall judgeH1777the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.

Psa 9:6-9  O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.  (7)  But the LORD shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.  (8)  And he shall judgeH1777the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.  (9)  The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

God Himself Is Judge

Psa 50:1-6  A Psalm of Asaph. The mighty God, even the LORD, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.  (2)  Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.  (3)  Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.  (4)  He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judgeH1777his people.  (5)  Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.  (6)  And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.

Deu 4:24-28  For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.  (25)  When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:  (26)  I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.  (27)  And the LORD shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.  (28)  And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.

Back to Isaiah 3

Isa 3:14  The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

Psa 80:14-19  Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;  (15)  And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.  (16)  It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.  (17)  Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.  (18)  So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.  (19)  Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.

We will explore the subject of the vineyard in more depth when we reach chapter 5. We explored the people ABBA Father mention here in verse 14 in our first passage of chapter 3.

Isa 3:1-3  For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,  (2)  The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,  (3)  The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

The Lord Is in His Holy Temple

Psa 11:1-5  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?  (2)  For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.  (3)  If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  (4)  The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.  (5)  The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Psa 11:6-7  Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.  (7)  For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

Isa 3:15  What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

ABBA Father is asking what have the poor and oppressed people done to these leaders to receive the treatment they have been dealt. We will take a look at John Gill’s Exposition of the Bible.

Isaiah 3:15

What mean ye, that ye beat my people to pieces,.... Reduce them to the utmost poverty; so the Targum, "wherefore do ye impoverish my people?''as they did by exacting tithes of all that they possessed; by requiring large sums for their long prayers; and by various traditions they enjoined them to observe:

and grind the faces of the poor? either by smiting them on the cheek, as Christ, who became poor for our sakes, was smitten by them; or by bringing them into such low circumstances, by their exorbitant demands, that they had not sufficiency of food to eat; by which means their faces became pale, thin, and meagre:saith the Lord God of Hosts: who saw all their actions, and was able to plead his people's cause, and take vengeance on their oppressors.

Isa 3:16-17 KJV  Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:  (17)  Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.

This passage begins a very heart wrenching description of the sins of the daughters of Zion. Apparently there had been an invasion of false practices which had even started to consume the women of Israel, Judah and Jerusalem. We covered how according to Ezekiel 13 the women were practicing what appeared to be some form of voodoo. This list of abominations eclipses even that.

These are all customs of different peoples throughout the world. For example although we cannot say for sure there are cultures within the far east and Africa that stretch their necks. They decorate themselves with rings. The Bible is full of how we as a whole develop these far eastern practices. We in no way intend for this to be insulting to any one. It’s just the Bible folks.

A Burmese Kayan LADY  an Afrcan Endebele woman

With regard to the ankle bracelets again we have connections to African and far east cultures.

Things we see every day in America would you say? The one thing that all this has in common is that all of what we are exploring represent foreign worship practices. In other words not Judaism then and Christianity now.

Isa 3:17-18 KJV  Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.  (18)  In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls,H7636, and their round tires like the moonH7720,

and their cauls,H7636

Interesting the only time we find this in the scripture is here.

The other 2 times we find this in scripture isback in the book of Judges.

Jdg 8:21 KJV  Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise thou, and fall upon us: for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose, and slew Zebah and Zalmunna, and took away the ornamentsH7720that were on their camels' necks.

Jdg 8:26 KJV  And the weight of the golden earrings that he requested was a thousand and seven hundred shekels of gold; beside ornamentsH7720,and collarsH5188, and purple raiment that was on the kings of Midian, and beside the chains that were about their camels' necks.

It’s not been that long ago now we started seeing a rise in things like Wicca, crystals and especially body piercing started taking a hold in society. The connection between Arabs and the moon emblem goes way further back than Mohammed. As you can see these more ancient Arabs had a fascination with the emblem as well. We are including some word studies on these objects to better see the influence in today’s society.

net-ee-faw'  From H5197; a pendant for the ears (especially of pearls): - chain, collar.  Total KJV occurrences: 2

The Only other occurrence in scripture is found in Judges 8:26 above. In this case the word used is applied to collars. In many cases these were probably fashioned to represent gods and goddesses.

and the braceletsH8285
שֵׁרָה
she^ra^h
shay-raw'  From H8324 in its original sense of pressing; a wrist band (as compact or clasping): - bracelet.  Total KJV occurrences: 1

We believe this would apply to what are called charm bracelets. The flow of the prophecy here would indicate that.

Albert Barnes’ Notes on the Bible
Isaiah 3:20
The bonnets - The “tiara, head-dress, or turban.” The word comes from the verb “to adorn.” The “turban” is almost universally worn in the East. It was worn by the priests, Exo_39:28; by the bridegroom, Isa_61:10; Eze_24:17; and by women. Its form is well known.

the ornaments of the legs,H6807
צְעָדָה
tse'a^da^h
tseh-aw-daw'   Feminine of H6806; a march; (concretely) an (ornamental) ankle chain: - going, ornament of the legs.

And the ornaments for the legs - The word used here is derived from a verb signifying “to walk, to go,” particularly to walk in a stately and formal manner - with a measured step, הצעדות hatse'ādo^th, from צעד tsa^'ad; and thus refers to a proud and lofty gait. The “ornament” which is here referred to is supposed to have been a short chain extending from one foot to the other, worn by the Eastern women to give them a measured and stately gait. - “Gesenius.” This “chain” is supposed to have been attached by hooks or clasps to the ‘tinkling ornaments’ mentioned in Isa_3:16. Safieri mentions these ornaments, and thus describes them: ‘The word denotes a small chain, with which females, when they walk, connect their feet, in order to make their steps equal.’ Happily these ornaments are unknown in modern times, at least in Western countries. They are still retained in the East.

the headbands,H7196
And the head-bands - This word means “girdles” of any kind, still commonly worn on the head. A picture in the book illustrates one of the usual forms of the head-band.

the tabletsH1004 H5315
And the tablets - The Hebrew is, as in the margin, ‘the houses of the soul.’ The word translated “soul” means also the “breath;” and hence, as one of its meanings, that which is “breathed,” “or which is smelled; “scent; fragrancy, odor.” The word “houses” here may denote also “boxes” - as boxes of perfumes. The phrase here means, undoubtedly, “smelling boxes” or “bottles,” containing perfumes or fragrant odors. The word “tablets” has no meaning here.

the earrings,H3908
לַחַשׁ
lachash
lakh'-ash  From H3907; properly a whisper, that is, by implication (in a good sense) a private prayer, (in a bad one) an incantation; concretely an amulet: - charmed, earring, enchantment, orator, prayer.  Total KJV occurrences: 5

And the ear-rings - It is by no means certain that the original means ear-rings. The word לחשׁים lechāshı^ym is derived from the verb לחשׁ la^chash signifying “to whisper,” and then “to conjure, to charm” (see the note at Isa_3:3); and here probably denotes precious stones worn by the females as “amulets” or “charms.” The word is often used to denote charming “serpents” - from their “hissing” and it has been supposed probable that these amulets were small images of serpents. There is no doubt that such ornaments were worn by Oriental females. ‘These ornaments seem to have been amulets, often gems and precious stones, or plates of gold and silver, on which certain magic formulas were inscribed, which were worn suspended from the neck or ears by Oriental females.’ - “Gesenius.” The following extract will furnish an explanation of these ornaments: ‘Besides ornamental rings in the nose and the ears, they (Oriental females) wore others round the legs, which made a tinkling as they went.

Isa 3:21-23  The rings, and nose jewels,  (22)  The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,  (23)  The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

Isa 3:21  The rings, and nose jewels,

The wimples

The veils

Isa 3:24-26  And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.  (25)  Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.  (26)  And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

A perfect description of the fiery end of all the wrong doings of the people starting with the pillars of society and leadership. Then concluding with the women and their errors. Many of the problems believers encountered back then are the same ones we encounter today. This is exactly what our opening passages from Ecclesiastes foretell us. This is the main reason it gets a permanent reference here on the page. All of the things we explored here above are remnants of what some might call false religions. It’s obvious that ABBA Father did not care too much for them in the time frame we have been exploring.

Verses 25  and 26 describe the military slaughter of the Jewish people. It also describes mourning and lament that accompanies the Babylonian invasion. The fiery destruction of Jerusalem both by the Babylonians and Romans respectively.

Woe to Unrepentant Cities

Mat 11:20-24  Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:  (21)  Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.  (22)  But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.  (23)  And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.  (24)  But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

Mat 11:25-30  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.  (26)  Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.  (27)  All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.  (28)  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  (29)  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  (30)  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Wait for the God of Salvation

Mic 7:1-7  Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.  (2)  The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.  (3)  That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.  (4)  The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.  (5)  Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.  (6)  For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.  (7)  Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.
