Psa 8:1-9  To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. Christ Came to Fulfill the Law

Mat 5:17-20 KJV  Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  (18)  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.  (19)  Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.  (20)  For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The Example of Christ

Hello again Friends. We are exploring the 3rd and final part to Isaiah’s prophesies here in chapter 14. Our first look concerned the spiritual king of Babylon. Our last journey was the oracle concerning Assyria. Now we have arrived at the final passage about Philistia. This is what the Bible calls palestine. We have explored in some other journeys about how there was no such place as palestine until well into the Roman occupation of Israel. The emperor Hadrian changed the name of Judaea to palestine because he was so angry with the Jewish rebellion he just crushed. This was circa 130 BC. So you see it’s pretty much always been Judaea or Israel. Don’t get mad at the ministry that’s just the way history played out. We will not refer to it here as palestine. It will be called what ABBA Father Himself calls it Philistia. Let’s get started.

An Oracle Concerning Philistia

Isa 14:28-32  In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.  (29)  Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.  (30)  And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.  (31)  Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.  (32)  What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

Isa 14:28  In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden. 

It would not be appropriate to exclude a little of the history of Ahaz. He is the king at the time frame this oracle was given. We will use Smith’s Bible Dictionary. 

A'haz. (possessor).1. Eleventh king of Judah, son of Jotham, reigned 741-726, about sixteen years. At the time of his accession, Rezin, king of Damascus and Pekah, king of Israel had recently formed a league against Judah, and they proceeded to lay siege to Jerusalem. Upon this, Isaiah hastened to give advice and encouragement to Ahaz, and the allies failed in their attack on Jerusalem. Isaiah 7-9.

But, the allies inflicted a most severe injury on Judah by the capture of Elath, a flourishing port on the Red Sea, while the Philistines invaded the west and south. 2 Kings 16; 2 Chronicles 28. Ahaz, having forfeited God's favor by his wickedness, sought deliverance from these numerous troubles by appealing to Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, who forced him from his most formidable enemies. But Ahaz had to purchase this help at a costly price; he became tributary to Tiglath-pileser.

He was weak, a gross idolater, and sought safety in heathen ceremonies, making his son pass through the fire to Molech, consulting wizards and necromancers, Isa_8:19, and other idolatrous practices. 2Ki_23:12. His only service of permanent value was the introduction of the sun-dial. He died at the age of 36, but was refused a burial with the kings his ancestors. 2Ch_28:27.

This gives us a bit of picture of what was going on in the promised land at that time. 

Ahaz Reigns in Judah

2Ki 16:1-7  In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign.  (2)  Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem, and did not that which was right in the sight of the LORD his God, like David his father.  (3)  But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel.  (4)  And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.  (5)  Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.  (6)  At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drave the Jews from Elath: and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there unto this day.  (7)  So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, which rise up against me.

2Ki 16:8-11  And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.  (9)  And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him: for the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin.  (10)  And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglathpileser king of Assyria, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.  (11)  And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus: so Urijah the priest made it against king Ahaz came from Damascus.

2Ki 16:12-15  And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.  (13)  And he burnt his burnt offering and his meat offering, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.  (14)  And he brought also the brasen altar, which was before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side of the altar.  (15)  And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt offering, and the evening meat offering, and the king's burnt sacrifice, and his meat offering, with the burnt offering of all the people of the land, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to enquire by.

2Ki 16:16-20  Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded.  (17)  And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.  (18)  And the covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.  (19)  Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?  (20)  And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.

Exile Because of Idolatry

2Ki 17:7-12  For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,  (8)  And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.  (9)  And the children of Israel did secretly those things that were not right against the LORD their God, and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fenced city.  (10)  And they set them up images and groves in every high hill, and under every green tree:  (11)  And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger:  (12)  For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

2Ki 17:13-18  Yet the LORD testified against Israel, and against Judah, by all the prophets, and by all the seers, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.  (14)  Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.  (15)  And they rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.  (16)  And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.  (17)  And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.  (18)  Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

Pelesheth pel-eh'-sheth From H6428; rolling, that is, migratory; Pelesheth, a region of Syria: - Palestina, Palestine, Philistia, Philistines.  Total KJV occurrences: 8

So we see that there is nothing wrong with using the name Philistia. The name of the people was called the Philistines. It’s this history we will be exploring a little of here. They are Israel’s oldest enemy. We always like to say that the thing having been being Philistines and the now as well. Remember 7 October 2023. We will study from the word we explored above. It addresses the 4 names that are used in the Bible. Just as we explored the roots of the Assyrian empire we have also explored the origins of the Philistines. We will look back at Genesis 10.

Gen 10:13-14  And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,  (14)  And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.

We will use the Smith’s Bible Dictionary to highlight some information about the territory of Philistia.

Philis'tia. (Hebrew, Pelesheth). (land of sojourners). The word thus translated in Psa_60:8; Psa_87:4; Psa_108:9, is, in the original, identical with that elsewhere rendered Palestine, which always means land of the Philistines.

(Philistia was the plain on the southwest coast of Palestine. It was 40 miles long on the coast of the Mediterranean between Gerar and Joppa, and 10 miles wide at the northern end and 20 at the southern. — Editor).

There are 3 verses or passages of scripture associated with the word Philistia. As with most prophesies concerning Israel’s enemies they spell out defeat. They are all found in the book of Psalms. The first is found in Psalm 60.

He Will Tread Down Our Foes

Psa 60:1-6  To the chief Musician upon Shushaneduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aramnaharaim and with Aramzobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.  (2)  Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.  (3)  Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.  (4)  Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.  (5)  That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.  (6)  God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Psa 60:7-12  Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;  (8)  Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.  (9)  Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?  (10)  Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?  (11)  Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.  (12)  Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

Psa 60:8  Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.

The passage places emphasis on the degree of insult here. These are going to be the lowliest of nations subdued at the hand of ABBA Father and Lord Yeshua. Something to keep in mind here is that in much of the Islamic/ Arab world it is the greatest of insults to cast a shoe at someone. It’s very interesting that ABBA Father placed this particular action in verse 8. Next the word Philistia is found in Psalm 87. 

Glorious Things of You Are Spoken

Psa 87:1-4  A Psalm or Song for the sons of Korah. His foundation is in the holy mountains.  (2)  The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.  (3)  Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.  (4)  I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.

Psa 87:5-7  And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.  (6)  The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.  (7)  As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.

Psa 87:4  I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.

We need to stress here that this Rahab is not the one that helped the Hebrews against Jericho. The words are 2 different ones entirely. Many scholars suggest that this use of the word is referring to Egypt based upon future chapters in Isaiah. 

The next reference to Philistia is found in another Psalm. It is found in Psalm

108 which ironically repeats a portion of Psalm 60. 

With God We Shall Do Valiantly

Psa 108:1-7  A Song or Psalm of David. O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory.  (2)  Awake, psaltery and harp: I myself will awake early.  (3)  I will praise thee, O LORD, among the people: and I will sing praises unto thee among the nations.  (4)  For thy mercy is great above the heavens: and thy truth reacheth unto the clouds.  (5)  Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens: and thy glory above all the earth;  (6)  That thy beloved may be delivered: save with thy right hand, and answer me.  (7)  God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Psa 108:7-13  God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.  (8)  Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;  (9)  Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe; over Philistia will I triumph.  (10)  Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?  (11)  Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?  (12)  Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.  (13)  Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

The next search Palestina with an “a” on the end comes up 3 times as well. 

The first passage that comes up is found in the Song of Moses in Exodus 15.

Exo 15:11-16  Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?  (12)  Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.  (13)  Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.  (14)  The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.  (15)  Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.  (16)  Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased.

The other 2 references are both found in the passage we are exploring. 

Exo_15:14  The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina.

Interestingly enough and maybe not too much surprise the word every one wants to use today being “ Palestine” is found only once in scripture. Maybe that’s a learning point within itself. This single reference is found in the book of Joel chapter 3. This is a very prophetic passage as well. 

The Lord Judges the Nations

Joe 3:1-5  For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,  (2)  I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.  (3)  And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.  (4)  Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;  (5)  Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:

Joe 3:6-10  The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.  (7)  Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:  (8)  And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.  (9)  Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:  (10)  Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

Joe 3:11-16  Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.  (12)  Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.  (13)  Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.  (14)  Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.  (15)  The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.  (16)  The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

The Glorious Future of Judah

Joe 3:17-21  So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.  (18)  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.  (19)  Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.  (20)  But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.  (21)  For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

This passage from Joel has much to say about another subject. That subject being Ezekiel 38 and 39. The warfare described here in Joel walks hand in hand with the gathering of nations in those chapters. Psalm 83 also another place to get some information on these passages. 

This order of events here in Isaiah 14 is also most interesting. It’s most interesting that the 2 nations involved with these oracles are 2 nations Israel is still trying to deal with. The Golan heights with Syria are still on the talking table although no one is talking. Then of course we have to deal with the idiots who caused all the dust up in Gaza. The battle over Philistia as we will call it. 

It’s interesting that there are 2 passages in the Psalms that are identical concerning Philistia. We have explored in Isaiah earlier how ABBA Father will call for a second time for His people to come again to the promised land. 

Isa 11:11-12  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.  (12)  And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Ironically enough as we are preparing this study the UN general assembly is taking place. Gaza and so called “ palestine” are being talked about a lot. Iran is trying to make a peace deal only under circumstances that involve Gaza. This of course will be a precursor to the deal that Daniel and Revelation tell us about. One other big place we find this scenario is in Zechariah.

Dan 8:25  And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

The Seventy Weeks

Dan 9:24-27  Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.  (25)  Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.  (26)  And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.  (27)  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The Coming Day of the Lord

Zec 14:1-4  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.  (2)  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.  (3)  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.  (4)  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem

Luk 21:20-24  And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.  (21)  Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.  (22)  For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.  (23)  But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.  (24)  And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

The Day of the Lord

1Th 5:1-5  But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.  (2)  For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.  (3)  For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  (4)  But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  (5)  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

The First Beast

Rev 13:1-9  And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.  (2)  And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.  (3)  And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.  (4)  And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?  (5)  And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months.  (6)  And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.  (7)  And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.  (8)  And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.  (9)  If any man have an ear, let him hear.

Isa 14:30-31  And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.  (31)  Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.

Judgment on Judah's Enemies

Zep 2:1-7  Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;  (2)  Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger come upon you.  (3)  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.  (4)  For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.  (5)  Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.  (6)  And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.  (7)  And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

Kind of spells some bad news for the “from the river to the sea” morons who don’t know their history here on our college campuses in America. Maybe they will end up over there before the judgment hits. They hate America so much they just need to go to Gaza to live we believe. 

Ezekiel also has a message regarding all this. 

Prophecy Against Philistia

Eze 25:15-17  Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a despiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;  (16)  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast.  (17)  And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

We will throw one more in to get the message out loud and clear.

Amo 1:1  The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake. 

Judgment on Israel's Neighbors

Amo 1:2-8  And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.  (3)  Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:  (4)  But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.  (5)  I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.  (6)  Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:  (7)  But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:  (8)  And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

Isa 14:32  What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

The Sin of Partiality

Jas 2:1-8  My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.  (2)  For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;  (3)  And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:  (4)  Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?  (5)  Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?  (6)  But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?  (7)  Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?  (8)  If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

Luk 6:20  And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.

Mat 11:5-6  The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.  (6)  And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Friends when will people around the world wise up to just one thing if they cannot anything else. Could we agree as people or humanity that the only entity that wants to destroy your son or daughter for any cause is Satan. As we have said over and over again why give up your son or daughter when we have an ABBA Father that has already given us His. AMEN!!

Woe to Unrepentant Cities

Mat 11:20-24  Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:  (21)  Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.  (22)  But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.  (23)  And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.  (24)  But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

Mat 11:25-30  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.  (26)  Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.  (27)  All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.  (28)  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  (29)  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  (30)  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Not Peace, but a Sword

Mat 10:34-39  Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.  (35)  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.  (36)  And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.  (37)  He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.  (38)  And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.  (39)  He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

Joh 16:1-3  These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.  (2)  They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.  (3)  And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Wait for the God of Salvation

Mic 7:1-8  Woe is me! for I am as when they have gathered the summer fruits, as the grapegleanings of the vintage: there is no cluster to eat: my soul desired the firstripe fruit.  (2)  The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net.  (3)  That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.  (4)  The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.  (5)  Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.  (6)  For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.  (7)  Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me.  (8)  Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
