Mat 13:10-17 KJV
(10) And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
(11) He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
(12) For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
(13) Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
(14) And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
(15) For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
(16) But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
(17) For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
(10) And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
(11) He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

1Pe 1:3-12 KJV
(3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
(4) To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
(5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
(6) Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

(8) Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
(9) Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
(10) Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
(11) Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
(12) Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
In the context of these passages we discover that the prophets were given the history and reasoning concerning their respective forecasts. In some prophecies they reveal the times to us by names that God provides such as some of the information we covered concerning Cyrus. We have considered the question and are always given the answer to why? Sometimes God reveals Himself in the form of where? So now we have covered questions and answers concerning who, what, where and even how in most cases. However there is always one unanswered question. That question being when. Jesus informs us that although perplexing at times this never shook the faith of the prophets that held to the faith.

Now in order to understand how Daniel felt at this point of his vision we must consider a couple of things. In gradual communication from God Daniel received the revelations of world powers and kingdoms that would rise in world history from his time forward. In addition he was given information concerning the Messiah and the antichrist. Just imagine having the forecasts of each and every topic we have connected to the book of Revelation except knowing when. The question that Daniel poses seems to be more along the lines of when will these be accomplished or fulfilled?

In the progression of our studies chapter by chapter Daniel was well aware of what was being said to him. If not he could not have interpreted Nebuchadnezzar's dreams and visions. He also would have been bewildered at the explanations he received in his own dreams and visions. So now as with all of us today and even Jesus the only question unanswered becomes “when”?.

(9) And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Daniel in this regard is shown almost everything that the world should understand from the realm of politics and religion. Many people consider both of these subjects as not to be mentioned in the same sentence including some Christians. Well there is good news about that old saying they both have everything to do with the global activities associated to the end of the age. We will not place all the blame upon upon these 2 because our actions as individuals also add to the fuel mixture for the fire. However we have an endless supply of flame retardant Jesus.

These words as we have explored previously were closed and sealed until a certain point of biblical history. We have observed in an earlier look at the words “closed up” and “sealed” how in another book of the NT concerning the end of the age being Revelation John is told not to seal up the words of the prophecy.
