The last passage from Ezekiel 38 has kinship to the signs of the end of the age given by Jesus and other verses found in the book of Revelation. The word fury is found in the book of Ezekiel more than any other prophet. It appears in 26 verses for a total of 28 times. Jeremiah comes in 2nd with almost half as many occurrences at 15 verses for 16 times. Isaiah follows with 12 verses which we see the word 13 times. This would lead one to believe that it is a subject worth looking into. Of course these are not all places which we find the word.

One thing we can note right from the start is that this word fury has a great deal to do with heat and wrath. It has been used as a description of punishment not only toward Israel but her enemies as well. It has been used for every word Strong’s lists above. In the context used here in Ezekiel 38:18 it applies to the destruction of the nations that gather together against Israel. However we know in previous studies and other passages it describes the fury or wrath of God against Israel. Although we will not go there today it’s also noteworthy to mention these are all forms of judgment to take place in the book of Revelation. So when some asks me do (I) believe in global warming my answer is yes. However it's not the type of "global warming" science would have me to believe.
One of the chapters we reference often concerning disobedience to the Lord is Leviticus 26. God uses this word specifically pertaining to His warnings to Israel.

As we have referenced over and over again Jesus also told of a situation in which the temple and the city would be destroyed. It’s found where else? In the signs of the end of the age of course. Again it seems like a nice time to see another of our favorite passages around here. Then ask yourself what does the world have in store for itself and us.

If we look one more time at verse 2 we notice that one part of the verse is not mentioned by Jesus at this time. The day of the Lord’s vengeance is not spoken of by Jesus at this moment.

(5) For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: (6) Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: (7) But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? (13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
This is also a great example of some things which have been for Israel in the OT that will be for the world in the NT.
Rom 1:18 KJV For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Jerusalem having been consumed by fire twice now. The world teeter tottering on the edge every day. As we explored in our last get together God never does completely forsake the nation of Israel. There are some other prophecies some we have looked into some not where we find the Lord’s fury associated with the nations. Just like Jesus bringing a way back to God for all of us that want it. There are plenty of people out there who don’t as well. These are things that all this activity will usher in speedily. Salvation for those who call upon the name of the Lord.
Rom 10:1-13 KJV Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. (2) For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. (3) For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (4) For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. (5) For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. (6) But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) (7) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) (8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; (9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. (12) For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. (13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
In Isaiah 34 we see the fate for the world which will have some fulfillment with Ezekiel 38 and 39. A lot of folks even some in the family absolutely insist that America is found no where in prophecy. Well unless you consider America not of this world or not falling within the category of “all” nations of the earth then it most certainly is found in prophecy.
Isa 34:1-6 KJV Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. (2) For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. (3) Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. (4) And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. (5) For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. (6) The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.

Hopefully this is enough to demonstrate that God’s fury yes was against Israel but we also need to recognize His fury is not reserved for Israel alone as many would like to believe and some try and make you believe. Our next study might be our last look at Ezekiel 38. However as we mentioned several times already the prophecy continues into chapter 39.

The last passage from Ezekiel 38 has kinship to the signs of the end of the age given by Jesus and other verses found in the book of Revelation. The word fury is found in the book of Ezekiel more than any other prophet. It appears in 26 verses for a total of 28 times. Jeremiah comes in 2nd with almost half as many occurrences at 15 verses for 16 times. Isaiah follows with 12 verses which we see the word 13 times. This would lead one to believe that it is a subject worth looking into. Of course these are not all places which we find the word.

One thing we can note right from the start is that this word fury has a great deal to do with heat and wrath. It has been used as a description of punishment not only toward Israel but her enemies as well. It has been used for every word Strong’s lists above. In the context used here in Ezekiel 38:18 it applies to the destruction of the nations that gather together against Israel. However we know in previous studies and other passages it describes the fury or wrath of God against Israel. Although we will not go there today it’s also noteworthy to mention these are all forms of judgment to take place in the book of Revelation. So when some asks me do (I) believe in global warming my answer is yes. However it's not the type of "global warming" science would have me to believe.
One of the chapters we reference often concerning disobedience to the Lord is Leviticus 26. God uses this word specifically pertaining to His warnings to Israel.
Lev 26:27-28 KJV And if ye will not for all this hearken unto me, but walk contrary unto me; (28) Then I will walk contrary unto you also in furyH2534; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
One simple way we can apply this to the nation of Israel dealt with the destruction of both temple and city of Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.

As we have referenced over and over again Jesus also told of a situation in which the temple and the city would be destroyed. It’s found where else? In the signs of the end of the age of course. Again it seems like a nice time to see another of our favorite passages around here. Then ask yourself what does the world have in store for itself and us.

(40) And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. (41) And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, (42) Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. (43) For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, (44) And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.
Isa 42:1-7 KJV Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. (2) He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. (3) A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. (4) He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. (5) Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: (6) I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; (7) To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
Isa 61:1-3 KJV The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; (2) To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; (3) To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
Luk 4:16-21 KJV And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. (17) And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, (18) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (20) And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. (21) And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
If we look one more time at verse 2 we notice that one part of the verse is not mentioned by Jesus at this time. The day of the Lord’s vengeance is not spoken of by Jesus at this moment.
Isa 61:2 KJV To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Perhaps because the Bible tells us things like the following in verse 9.
2Pe 3:1-13 KJV This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: (2) That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: (3) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, (4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (5) For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: (6) Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: (7) But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. (8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, (12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? (13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
This is also a great example of some things which have been for Israel in the OT that will be for the world in the NT.
Rom 1:18 KJV For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Jerusalem having been consumed by fire twice now. The world teeter tottering on the edge every day. As we explored in our last get together God never does completely forsake the nation of Israel. There are some other prophecies some we have looked into some not where we find the Lord’s fury associated with the nations. Just like Jesus bringing a way back to God for all of us that want it. There are plenty of people out there who don’t as well. These are things that all this activity will usher in speedily. Salvation for those who call upon the name of the Lord.
In Isaiah 34 we see the fate for the world which will have some fulfillment with Ezekiel 38 and 39. A lot of folks even some in the family absolutely insist that America is found no where in prophecy. Well unless you consider America not of this world or not falling within the category of “all” nations of the earth then it most certainly is found in prophecy.
Isa 34:1-6 KJV Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it. (2) For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter. (3) Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood. (4) And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. (5) For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment. (6) The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
Rev 6:12-17 KJV And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; (13) And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. (14) And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. (15) And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; (16) And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: (17) For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
Isa 51:11-23 KJV Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. (12) I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; (13) And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? (14) The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail. (15) But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name. (4) For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
